This pic has been shared 972 times and has been liked by over 86,000 people also has over 1,800 comments. Is there anyone taking advantage of this. I plan to very soon.

Edit: I gave somebody advice recently that is directly related to this topic.

I'm sorry to hear that mike, I suppose their is risk involved no matter what we do when it comes to google. That's why it's important to take the advice of others and not rely on google for all of our traffic. Look into ways of getting traffic from fb."

I responded with:

Get a bunch of fb buddies and send a picture of a bad car wreck with the words "got car insurance" with you link on the picture.

One thing I notice lately is these pics with 100,000 likes, I thought to myself man how can i capitalize on that.

For example if I had a news site I would send a pic of Treyvon Martin, those pics get a gazillion likes instantly. Not that I would trying take avantage of a young boys death, but it just food for thought.

This advice is from a week old thread, but this topic has been on my mind ever since I first started to see these pics being passed around with thousands of likes.

Ok, their banking on brand recognition.

How are you going to promote your brand/site?

I haven't really thought that part out yet lol, but I'll think of something. One way would be the Trevon Martin example I gave above.

Edit: this is the first pic I seen that was a brand name, most are just funny pics, cool quotes, celeb etc I'm sure people could think of ways to use this idea, just put a spin on it.

Find Chris Munch's Hook Pigeon WSO, if it's still available. It's a great little guide on how to do those virals and how to capitalise on the traffic.

So nobody is spreading images around to get traffic to their site, this does't seem like to hard of an idea. I've been looking for ways to not rely on Google as much and methods like this is what I'm start getting into. I'm really surprised no one has any real insight or clever ideas as how we could capitalize on this.

Well I suppose that's a good thing, than people would spam fb.

That's the thing though, you can't really "fake" a viral or spam FB - it has to be something people WANT to share, or it'll just disappear without trace. I have done it a couple of times with reasonable success, but it takes a little bit of work. You have to:

      - come up with something funny people will actually share
      - create a completely stripped-down template for the page you are going to put it on so there are no other distractions
      - put the social share buttons in a prominent position
      - do NOT try to monetise initially or the viral effect will fail

Of course, the real knack is producing something viral that people will naturally share - you can't MAKE them..!

Once the initial traffic spike has died down you can decide what to do - redirect that page to another one for the link juice, or maybe put an offer on that page or something.

I think we SHOULD be thinking about these kinds of strategy - just takes a lot more creativity, something I fear a lot of niche site builders are sorely lacking.
