Dear webmasters and "SEO" firms, get a clue - Directory backlinks after Penguin and PageRank update

I own 50 directories. I don't give them to much attention, they don't earn much, but i like to have a diversified portofolio of websites.

All 50 of them have backlinks ONLY from other directories, always had. I NEVER inter link my directories. So all backlinks are from others peoples directories.

- no un-natural backlinks message, ever
- all have page rank 1+ as of today, well indexed and crawled. 40 of them had page rank 2+ before today's update, not one of them had the pagerank decreased, few got pr3 and pr4.

What does that tell ? directory are not a source of un natural backlinks. You have no proof that they are, i have a case study that they aren't. (if you solicit your brain a little you may find out that even google is a big directory with a more complicated mechanism).

A message to webmasters : your site dropped in serps ? I have news for you, without those directory backlinks you will be out of top 1000. What about you don't put insurance word 30 times on your crappy little homepage?

If you though buying forum profiles, automatic blog spam, +1 and likes (all coming from same 3rd world country), linking between your own sites heavily, buying "blog network" posts (100 word posts, with spin content and some un related links), etc .... bad for you.

Now those links are worthless and you are paying the price. At least smarten up and learn from your mistakes.

A message to the so-called seo firms : learn some seo and help your clients to make money. Wasting your clients time trying to remove backlinks from 3rd party site is one of the most stupid things i saw in 5 years.

There are few webmasters thinking that contacting 1000's directory, article sites, etc webmasters is a good ideea and it will solve their serp penalties. It will not, because the penalty is for another reason.
