Does the number of H2 tags matter?

I use 1 H1 tag and up to 10 H2 tags in my posts. I don't use H3 or the rest.
Is 10 H2 tags in a single post too many for SEO?

I usually use only one or two H2 tags.

I think 1 for each 200-300 words of content is more than enough.

IMO if you have a long post then 10 H2 tags may not be much (depends on the contents of your page). As 'lauuuer' said 1 H2 per 200-300 words is good.

That sounds like a bit much on a regular article, your average would be 1 <h2> tag per every 120 words.

If it's a FAQ type page it might look ok.

What's your reason behind so many <h2> tags?
