Hi all clever warriors,
I have a question: Do you use social bookmarking to get PR backlinks to increase serp results? Is it working for you, do you get good dofollow PR backlinks from it? For me Social sites don´t generate much converting traffic, but I might have noticed an improvement in the serps from it. What´s your experience?

When you write a new blog article or web page and bookmark it you can also help yourself out by utilizing some basic SEO techniques. To keep it simple what you want to do is choose a specific keyword phrase for the article you write about.

Yes it does, but bear a few thigns in mind

    1) Links sometimes take weeks to make any difference and show up on backlink checkers.

    2) Make srue the page doesn't have a nofollow attribute on your link.

    3) Check the PR of the page that you link is listed on.

A PR 4 link will make a difference to a new site, you might not notice anything less, you just have to keep building and use other areas of linkbuilding too.

Social bookmarking does increase the ranking in SERPs.

You can get to the top of SERPs for low competition keywords within hours after your social bookmarking campaign.

I disagree, Google doesn't let such actions happen unless it's a very specific situation eg news related items and that has nothign to do with backlinks.

Google will show your page for long tail keyword, and may float (Google dance) around for days before stabilized.

Not every time the bookmarked page will show immediately, it may take up to 48 hours to show up. But it won't last long, will dance around and finally settle down on a position after 1 week.

You may not get the huge backlin you are looking for but you definitely improve your SERP. you can also get a trcikle of traffic, it all depends upon your niche.

Yes, Social Bookmarking will help drive your page up in the SERP's. You need to make sure that you get valid backlinks from your posts though.

On the otherhand, if you optimize your bookmarks, these can rank in the SERP's as well and you can get traffic from these too.

Yes, I do dofollow sites only, trying to do so in all my link submissions. I´m not a big fan of social bookmarking, since most of it doesn´t seem to be quality traffic from the social sites themselves, but I thought if it makes a different in serps it´s defenetly worth it.

Really, do you then mean the social bookmarking page or the page a such?

Ok, that´s interesting. I have a multi niched site, but are n´now trying to work more an a couple of keywords I would like to get a higher position in the serps. So to focus on them on the social sites might be something then.

Social bookmarking or mass social bookmarking wont do much for you in terms of
quality traffic but you will see an increase in ranking over time. Personally I don't
do mass submissions rather small daily submission. I have done mass submission
before and it works well but your ranking tends to slip over time without further
      work.

Social bookmarking on it's own helps, but it's also best to use other forms of link
building too. Having backlinks from nothing but social bookmarking sites also looks
      unnatural IMO.

I´ve been thinking about the mass publishing, I´m doing everything manually now, I´m very aware of being banned from google or to sink in the serps, I don´t want to ruin what I´ve accomplished. So I´ve been staying out of those things to make it look natural. Might continue that then

I´m actually spending most of my time on the site, trying to write quality content and I´m doing no mass submissions of any sort. I´m mostly commenting on high ranking blogs, but thought I needed to spread it and thought I might give the social bookmarking more energy. Haven´t used it much because of the low quality traffic. Wrote a lot of articles at one point, but decided my writing did more good on my own site.

Yes, quality is the word of the day I guess. But I wonder about if social bookmarking would have less value than before, because this is what you hear occasionally about all sort of things. Heard the same thing about blogs, but the high ranking dofollow blog posts I´ve been posting to has certainly made a difference.

As mentioned above, in order to get the most out of your social bookmarks they should be optimized. One bookmarking submission service, WL Marketing, will bookmark 30 sites with good PR for $4 and rotates as many different titles as you can dream up.

It doesn't do much, if anything, for pages just outside the top ten, but it gives me a bump up of around 5 spots for pages further back; e.i. to 23 from 28.

What's actually funny is you would think Google would be putting more weight on Social Bookmarking sites because they are some of the most expensive backlinks to create.

Keyword ranking in SERP depends on the backlinks of the website which helps to improve the Keywords ranking. And Social bookmarking is a good source for increase the backlinks and it is also helpful for index the website in Search Engines. So from my opinion bookmarking helps to get high ranking.

I think social bookmarking is just like any other type of linking. If the link is from a relevant site and content of relevant link anchor it should theoretically help you. But then there's all kinds of factors in between.

The best way to look at it is... Does the link makes sense. Does a link from a car domain to another car domain makes sense - that answer is yes. does a link from a car domain to a women's fashion boutique makes sense - no.

so when it comes to social bookmarking the same applies. Figure out the social audience... If it's people in their 90s it's probably not going to make much sense to have a link from their social network to people in their 20s unless it's some type of family tree type deal.

Social bookmarking and social media are just the current buzzwords. Everybody's running around screaming them like they've got the keys to the Google algorithm. Don't buy into the hype too much do what is relevant to your website. build your website on the specific theme and give people what they want when they arrive

I would say that it works for me. I don't get much direct traffic and the backlinks count and improve my rankings. But I use social bookmarking normally only as one part of my backlinks strategy.
