Hello

I searched for the competition of keyword in google keyword tool and It showed LOW competition with 2,900 globally monthly searches then I searched same keyword in MS and it showed me 596,000 competition and 90,500 monthly searches.... Do you think 596,000 comes in low competition ?

On which one should I believe ?

If you know any better tool please let me know

Thanks

First, the number of sites in the index has nothing to do with how competitive a keyword is. Whoever told you that, you should stop listening to everything they say. Immediately.

Second, the Google Keyword Tool tells you how competitive a keyword is for AdWords advertisers. It has absolutely nothing to do with SEO.

To determine the difficultly to rank a particular keyword, you need to analyse the top 10 results for their on-page and off-page SEO.

    MS gives you that information.

I hardly look at a page's onpage SEO because that is all stuff you can duplicate, so even if their pages are perfectly optimized onpage, you can match that. I do take a good look at their internal linking structure. That can play a big role.

After that, I analyze the quality of the backlinks to the top 3 sites. I use mostly SpyGlass for that. Ahrefs or OpenSite Explorer aren't too bad either.
