Broad is like saying the keyword, "Car" it shows up in tons of instances including things like, "she got in the car"

Exact is when you are trying to buy/sell a red BMW car then your exact Keyword phrase would be "buy red BMW Car"

    I hope that helps...

Exact keyword research the search engine shows the only those sites which contain keywords in title tag. For eg. if we search for "health insurance" then search engine shows those sites or pages which having this keyword in title, description.
Broad keyword research means the sites with those keywords alongwith other keywords as suffix and prefix. For eg. if we search "insurance" then search engine shows all the websites which contain like health insurance, travel insurance etc.

Broad match keywords are include synonyms, singular and plural forms, possible misspellings, and phrases containing your keywords and The exact match keyword can cause your ad to show only if someone searches exactly, with no other words.

Do you mean the match types in the Google Keyword Tool, or other keyword research tools?

Then I think it has nothing to do with page titles etc. That would apply if the OP was asking about searching in Google itself, not the match types in keyword tools.

      Here is what they mean:

      Broad match
the search volume Google tells you about refers to searches that included all the words you entered, but the real searches could have included these words in any order, and/ or other words before, after or in the middle.

For instance, broad searches for "pink umbrella" would be things like "pink umbrella", "pink umbrella for rainy days", "buy a pink umbrella", "umbrella that suits a pink dress", "pink and yellow umbrella" etc.

      Phrase match
I this case, Google returns search volumes for searches that included your words, in that same order, with nothing in the middle, but maybe some words before or after.

From the examples above, "pink umbrella", "pink umbrella for rainy days", "buy a pink umbrella" would be phrase matches for "pink umbrella", but the last two wouldn't.

      Exact match
In this case, it refers to the words you typed, in the same order, and without any words before or after.

So, the only exact match for "pink umbrella" is "pink umbrella"

...to understand the different, You can insert your keyword in KeywordDonkey.com and see the most common keywords you will be advertising for in broad match.

When you have done that, I recommend that you go little more long tail before you go broad...

    Hello dear..
Broad Match: This is the most primitive form of keyword input. An example would be:

    download free songs

But since it’s a broad match it would also trigger for the following phrases:

    free download songs

    free songs download

    songs free download

The problem with this is that often when the words in a particular phrase a rearranged they can become untargeted & mean something completely different to what someone is actually searching for.

Exact Match: This is the most targeted type of match & the one I prefer to use most often. With this match you can target the exact keywords you want to trigger your ads. The more targeted you are the higher your conversions will be.
