I do care I find myself actually rooting for baby Bing these days. In fact, for the first time in about 14 years I switched my homepage from Google to Bing to try and get used to it.

For the article, I think it's a pretty good idea, especially as a way to stand out a little bit.

Bing is about 30% of the market, why turn your back on that much revenue.

I make about 37% of my income from bing as I rank better in bing then I do in google on some of my primary keywords.

If this works out it may be the most important story in search engine history. Google has no social proof mechanic and this could really take off.

This may either end the facebook threat to google or be the first shot fired in what ends up being a deathblow to google.

As I generally rank better for bing than google I have not studied this. However i do notice things like EMD seem stronger in bing thatn in google especially after the penguin update.

Bing mimics Googles crappy results, so focusing on Bing is a waste of time.

I switched to Bing for awhile after the big Penguin just because I was really sick of seeing the name Google.. sort of refreshing, if you ask me! Hey, like Dracobar said, if Bing is 30% of the market, who knows they may rise just as high as Google, and someday we might be seeing threads like "Bing's Octopus update killed my site!!!"

Love the Octopus line and Jack Nicholson avatar! A little off topic but was that pic from As good as it gets?

I haven't really used bing as a search engine, let alone relied on it to help get traffic. Lately I've been straying more and more from search engines for traffic. I only use search engines to help find keywords and competition.

I have a few double listing on Bing for a few big keywords and while having juts one listing in Google serps for any of those keywords brings me a few hundreds UV a day, double listing on Bing serps for the same keywords brings 3-4 UV a day.

For me personally, its not worth the effort at all, although I have noticed most of the time when I rank in Google, Bing follows soon with even stronger rankings.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. Who told you guys that Bing runs 30% of the search engine market?

Bing has never even been anywhere near 30% and they won't be for a long, long, long time.

The only possible way you're coming to that conclusion is by adding Bing's 15% marketshare to Yahoo's Bing powered 14%.... Which even though the SERPs for Yahoo are provided by Bing, does not mean that Bing has a 30% share of the search market.

    Bing != Yahoo

The article i had read was quoting search volume and did not include yahoo. as yahoo was not included I assume it merged the data together, as bing powers yahoo for the purposes of our discussion they are the same thing.

As I mentioned I make about 37% of my revenue from bing and to blindly ignore bing would be foolish.

Also I believe at present bing is gaining market share and google is losing marketshare if this new innovation works out it could easily set things on their ear.

  • Even Bing and Yahoo altogether, they cant hit 30%. Its near 10% according to this site Search engine market share

Google rulez and Chinese Baidu has a better market share than Bing

Worldwide bing's search engine market share might be 5%... but in US the it's a decent 30% (thats 15% bing, 15% yahoo).

Yup, since penguin came out I'm also rooting for bing! Now my homepage... I think we should all be retaliating against googs.

Sidenote: Wha? my postcount has gone back to zero!

I have submitted my blog onto bing but no traffic from them so far for the past 2 months. Only see google traffic. So I'm won't care about bing. My first priority is to create value content with some SEO.
