Are Social Bookmarking Services Effective? Ie. SocialMonkee

I used socialmonkee for one of my sites...it increased in ranking really fast from page 10 to page 7 to page 5 to page 3 and then just gone back to page 8 probably after penguin update or even before that. It could be probably that I stopped doing social bookmarking using social monkee....

Please note I am just a beginner....so experienced people can comment better.

Yeah, I am unsure whether I should use it again. Seems like if you are not consistent with it then google might see them as un-natural links and punish you for it? Not sure on this either.

Social bookmarking can be effective, but you cant rely on it as the only source. You have to use it in conjunction with other methods.

Social media are great to get traffic not backlinks so don't waste your time or money to get backlinks from social networks just start be social on these sites and you will soon start getting traffic...

If it takes almost 0 effort and everyone's doing it then it's probably worth 0. Do what other people refuse to do. If you don't know what that is, then I'll tell you. Become a useful source of information and people will seek you out and link back to your site. My most successful sites started out as advice sites that answered my readers' most pressing questions. It took about 12-18 months, but suddenly I was #1 for a whole lot of keywords, 90% of which I wasn't even targeting. That's how it's done. If your site blows, nobody is going to link to it. If your site is great, social bookmarking becomes a stepping stone to better things.

In my opinion there are only two social bookmarking websites. Which are so effective for backlinks and traffic as well as Digg and stumbleupon.

Digg provide you backlinks and Stumbleupon gives you bunch of traffics.

Social bookmarking is still very effective but you have to be very careful. Social bookmarking is good for fast indexing and it's best to use it in a tiered/pyramid linking.

Social bookmarking is good for indexing of our web pages. You can also use Digg, stumbleupon, delicious such sites to get traffic on your website.

Hello! In my opinion, socialmonkee is effective but after some recent updates from penguin, it's just not as effective as it used to be. Maybe if you put more effort into it, you can make it work like it used to be. Best of Luck!

There are many useful social bookmarking services that are effective, Social monkee isnt one of them.

They basically send your links to their own 100 de-indexed by google sites.

Social Bookmarking services are definitely good, but only if they are of high quality and good page rank ultimately increasing your traffic and thereby improvising on your visitor flow.

I had a new domain and sent 150 social monkee links to it over 15 days and got an unnatural links notice from google.

I now avoid this service. Maybe you can get away with using the links as tier 2 or lower... but that's it.

Sounds a lot like they're using low-quality links for their free trial. Build links manually or carefully using software yourself.

That way you have control of where your links go and you can pick out the best of the best high PR sites to post them on.

Well they are clearly posting on low level sites i would suggest doing it manually. Taking into account the most social bookmarking sites are PR5 some as high as PR7-8 that pritty shit.

Social monkee is cool. I don't know how much it really impacts rankings, but it does help in link diversity. I just wish they had more bookmarking sites in their network higher than a pagerank 0. Heck, I have autoblogs that rank higher than that. But hey, I'm not trying to bash their service; I still use it myself from time to time. And if you don't want to pay, you can get a premium account with SM by generating 12 referrals. This is what I did and find that having the ability to generate unique bookmarks to over 100 sites per day is well worth the freebie!

Social Monkee is crap. They post on really low-PR sites, some of which have already been deindexed. It is a waste of money to sign up with them.

Services like Onlywire and SocialAdr are much better if you need quick, quality social bookmarks and social media linking. These services are superb for blogs. When you have a new post, jump over to Onlywire, plot in the title, description, etc... and proliferate. The sites have high PR and emit social signals which google loves. They will also get your post/page indexed faster.

Not too sure if sites like this are effective to help keywords rank in the serp that have some type of competition. What I believe social bookmarks are effective for would be to get my initial site indexed.

I purchased the basic package of Social Monkee and it proved not to be decent enough to go for the upgrades. Most of the bookmarkings are on the domains that have been de-indexed by Google, so using it may actually hurt your website.
If you are looking for social bookmarking, go for popular ones (High PRs). There are many gigs on Fiverr that submit Social Bookmarking, a few of which I have found a few to be decent. My advice: don't go for the ones that submit to hundreds unless you have a established website. I haven't seen lot's of bookmarking (at once) to penalize any website yet, but I have seen many bookmarkings to cause Google dance, etc.

LEGITIMATE social bookmarking is effective. Using automated software to do social bookmarking is likely to get your site sandboxed - sooner or later. IMHO.

Of course, manual social bookmarking would still work.

This way, you have option to use multiple title and description and use unique description so that it would be fresh content, and it would be indexed easily.

I use social monkey, sociadr, social zon builder and the social pro plugin (nextscripts) all in conjunction. This gets posts/pages indexed fast and usually quite high. I then turn to other means to build on the initial burst.
