I need your advice about my keyword research

Hi guys,

I am newbie but I follow this forum for a couple of months and I have learnt many things. I have read most of your comments about how to find a good keyword research tool. Many of you recommend the Google Keyword tool which is free and many others are fan of Market Samurai tool, Niche Finder or other tool.

I am currently using the free trial of Market Samurai tool and I find that it is extremely slow and that quite a few times makes my mac stuck.

On the other hand I have read many blogs such as Pat's or Tyron's blogs and I have some questions about how to analyze correctly a keyword with the use of Market Samurai in order to build a niche site.

I am trying to find a niche in the French market (french language and so french keyword). I have found some keywords with
- SEOT around 112
- PBR between 1%-3%
-SEOCompetition less than 30.000
I have also checked the average PR of the 10 first sites in Google and it is about 2 (the average).

Here after my questions:
What is the importance of the Phrase to Broad Ratio (PBR) factor?
What limit do you put on that factor? Some bloggers advice a 15%.
What do you think about that keyword? Is that a good one?

I did the exercise using broad match and not exact match.
Is that the proper way or I need to research with exact match?

Finally I would like to inform you that I have also checked the keyword with the Google Keyword Tool. It has a big number of monthly research
Broad monthly researches: 8100
Exact monthly researches: 170

and when I put the keyword in quotes and search it in the Google I find about 44800 results.

Could you please help out to understand what is the conclusion of all that. Does the keyword is a good one or not and why?

Thank you very much in advanced. I appreciate your help!

There are many different ways to do keyword research through various courses.

But let me give a very basic example.

If you are promoting information products like ebooks, video courses, software tools or web-based applications, here are 4 things you should look for:

    Types Of Keywords: Exact Match

    No Of Searches Be It
Globally Or Monthly: 1000 And Above

    Competition / Google
    Results: Medium To Low

    No. Of PPC Ads On
    Right Side Of Google
    Results Page: At Least 3-4

I usually gather 20-30 keywords that meet the above criteria. These are to be used as domain name, website title, articles, bookmarks, classified ads, PDF documents, press releases and videos.

If you are promoting physical products like LCD TVs, Smartphones etc, go for the brand names, movie/drama series titles. Competition is no longer the issue here.

I suggest you use Google keyword tool the best. With the changes Google made, keyword research is so much easier as you can find the number of searches and competition level right away.

Could you please explain to me what do you mean by Right Side Of Google? How can I count the No of PPC Ads on the Right Side of Google? You mean when I do a research of the keyword in quotes in Google?
You usually gather 20 - 30 keywords with these criteria just for one website?
Why competition is not an issue when we promote physical products?
      Thanks again for your help.

I dont know they keyword you are searching but from those results 170 exact searches in my experience is a very easy keyword which you can expect to rank within a couple of weeks. The normal types of keywords that people target when they are doing SEO is 1000 EXACT monthly searches. This is manageable and also profitable. 170 exact searches wont bring in much dough

you probably won't get much traffic with 170 exact searches a month.

    Here is my suggestions:
    1. Don't take PBR too seriously, this is metric set by Market Samurai, it's not standard rule.
    2. Check the PPC and local search count, and do estimated income if you reach no.1.
    3. Check the top 10 competition.

If the estimated income satisfy you and top 10 competition is easy then go for it, it's very simple.

Its not a metric that I pay that much attention to.

A lot of people say a lot of things. I always go by the SEOTCR, or "keyword saturation point". If the figure is LOW, then thats a good thing.

Ill get to that lower down....

(insert wrong answer buzzer sound effect here)

    ALWAYS use EXACT MATCH!

The only thing youre interested in here is "exact monthly searches" - which in this case is 170.

170 searches a month is worthless - UNLESS, you're selling a high ticket item. There's nothing wrong with 170 searches for a $5,000 product

Dont do that, its a waste of time. Use the SEO COMP feature within Market Samurai - pay special attention to BLP. Thats the metric youll want to note.

    Hi guys,
I thank you very much for your advice. What I understand is that 170 exact monthly researches are not a lot and my site will not have a lot of traffic.
I understand that your advice is based on the fact that I want to build a niche site in order to sell a product or service (affiliate).

But what about if I want to build a blog, increase traffic and have an income as a blogger? I don't know exactly how I am going to monetize the blog yet: I will use ads for sure and I will try to find out some affiliate products. The blog will be related to tourism. My future goal is to do some private advertise once I have a good ranking.
Does this information change your advice about the approach of finding a good keyword for the URL of this site?

I am a little bit confused because many people advise to find a niche related to our passion, problem or fera. I am interested in the tourism field but I don't really know how to proceed. Every keyword I test in Market Samurai is not a good one..

I would appreciate if you give me your advice. Thank you.

If you follow Google policies then you easily come up on search engine. First you read Panda and Penguin update after that you start your SEO work. In my opinion website content is more pivotal as before
