Do you know what a natural link profile looks like? because there are people turning up at this forum saying things like;

"I just built 250 PR4 links in one day and my site has disappeared"

and..

"I've just blasted 1000 bookmarks and my site is nowhere to be seen"

and..

"I just ordered a bunch of gigs on fiverr and my site dropped 100 places"

So whats your opinion of a natural link profile? and why?
#building #link #natural

Natural links building does not exist. If you mention the word "building" then it is not natural.

but the word "natural link" or "natural backlinks" do exist. It is about the link that other people/webmaster/blogger link back to your site without any asking/paying. If a website is worth sharing and giving high quality content that people love, then people will link to those website from their blog/site. That's called natural link. High quality website like "mashable" do get a lot of natural link since their content is worth sharing.

You can "build links naturally" by giving your visitors something WORTH linking to.

Apparently, this is the only legitimate way. You have to have get sites to link to you. If you place a backlink yourself or pay for a backlink, it's not a natural one.

I think this will put many websites out of business. New webmasters won't be able to afford the kind of content that other people will want to link to. People certainly aren't going to link to $4 articles written by people who aren't native English speakers.

If you want to create a successful website now, you have to be an excellent writer yourself or have boatloads of money to hire a professional writer.

The truth is, if you build unnatural links then it's only a matter of time before you receive an unnatural links detected penalty. When that happens its pretty much the end of your website. That's why 99% of warrior SEO services are a total waste of time.

To fabricate a link profile that is indistinguishable from natural you have to know what natural is. I'm not claiming to be an expert as things have changed a lot in the last few months but my current thinking is:
          1. Make sure most of the anchors are to the brand and not money keywords
          2. Aim for less than 10% anchor text for any money keyword (brand excluded).
          3. Build less links, currently i'm building one really good link a day for each website I have
          4. Links should be from a wide variety of sources
          5. There should be a balance of low quality and high quality links
          6. More than 50% of links should use generic anchors like 'click here', 'visit, site' etc.
          7. Link velocity should go up and down as this is natural. Steady link velocity is not natural.
          8. Links should be in related content and the grammar should appear natural
          9. Avoid link sources that can be identified as only used for ranking i.e. blog networks using spun content
          10. Avoid blasts of any kind
          11. Be very careful of using any automated software for link building - for most people this is high risk.

It's much safer to build links if you also have some natural traffic and links as this helps camouflage and dilute any artificial links. To build a long term site on the basis of a 100% fabricated link profile is extremely difficult.

The answer to this is to stop building links for SEO and start focusing in building links for traffic and reputation, of course these links could be only a few but they are really valuable not only for traffic and reputation but SEO too and at the same time you don't have to rely on search engines for traffic. The best methods that offer all these benefits are blog commenting on relevant and authority blogs on your niche (not spamming comments) and of course guest posting on authority blogs in your niche. There is simple no better way to promote a site (or better a business) and at the same time building quality backlinks...

Simply - when you get a link from another site that you didn't ask for. Basically, when someone likes your stuff that aint a pile of junk they will link to it.

It isn't rocket science, just provide a user experience..

    Good luck!

Make great content worth linking to. Thats the only way links will get built for you by the users and readers of your content. Top lists have been popular, but study viral marketing and give incentives/possibilities for people to share your content on all major social platforms and on their own blog or website

I guess saying link building is not natural but from what I understand and what I do is no follow/ do follow, different sites, high PR and low PR, try to do just a little at a time, blog writing, article submit, little book marks, journals, etc.. All just a little at a time. Works for me.

Some links are not condusive to "natural" link building. There are products that simply don't have a good backing of people.

For instance, if you're in the computer programming niche, then there is potential that you could get a link from a High PR pages on a techie blog because there are a lot of them and even the smallest applications seems to engender a loyal following who throw up links to these blogs. I you create something that is "worth being linked to" from these blogs, then you can share in the benefit of an link juice directed your way from said blogs when they direct their readers to your content.

The whole thing gets a lot harder if you're trying to promote a site related to "wood splitting axes". There are a lot of people who chop wood to heat their home and stuff. The ones that use a lot of it tend to live out in the country and while they may read stuff online to help them in their search for the perfect minimalist life they are not the type to toss links out here and there. The result is that there is very little link-juice heading in to the types of blogs that you'd be hoping to get "noticed" by and hope to get a link from recognizing your content.

In the end, people buy axes and they certainly would do so from Amazon if you were #1 for "Wood Splitting Axe" but the chances of you "naturally" building any type of powerful link profile from sites which are related is very low. Linking is just not what people in this niche do.

Natural links are those which are not made for the purpose of SEO. And for obvious reasons, they carry a great amount of goodwill with them.

Don't prefer the count of link building but always keep quality link building on minds.

"Natural link building" is now shifting rapidly towards Natural Link Earning, (I believe Rand Fishkin of Seomoz coined that phrase.)

I think a natural link profile has a good range of links from many different sources:

    Guest posts
    Infographics
    Video links
    Niche directories in your industry
    Press releases etc

Create engaging content with humour, interesting facts about your industry, a new industry outlook etc in the form of a cartoon infographic, or a stimulating guest post or then share that content via building relationships with market leaders and experts in your field on Twitter, Pinterest etc

One tweet from a big cheese in your sector on Twitter, or a Pin on Pinterest may help launch your content to a wider targeted audience.

You can also create a press release about your content and submit it Via PRweb, Press Release Monkey or Ereleases.com

Then the links will begin flowing naturally and your backlink profile will start to look healthy.

However, I still believe there's a place for quality, relevant "link building". If you submit to a relevant category in the Yahoo directory, Dmoz, Botw, Joeant, or a local tradespersons directory in your town or city, it's still "building links".

Someone manually has to create a title, description and spend the time submitting this information.
