Been experimenting with Hubpages over the last couple of weeks. Combining hubpages with unique article wizard is incredible. Got 4 test hubs on page 1 in a matter of a few days once UAW kicked in for some competitive terms. Traffic to one hub to day has been 500 visitors. Pusblished the hub on the 3rd May and its been climbing ever since.

The product im targeting is a game due to be released tomorrow.

Here`s what i have been doing.

    1) Have a 1000 word article and a 500 word article written on iwriter
    2) Go to fiverr and get the 500 word article rewritten twice
    3) put 1000 word article on hubpages and add videos and amazon stuff
    4) submit the 3 500 word articles to UAW and wait 24hrs for approval.
    5) Thats it.

Working really well for me. :-)

Why not Blogger if you're going the free route? Seems to rank just as well as Squidoo & Hubpages without the headaches.

Yes, I too would like to say the same. But, let's take a step further and exploit the huge traffic from Squidoo or Hubpages and point to your blog filled with affiliate links. What next you need to know is "How to Increase Conversion Rate". But do note, don't join both at the same time, since establishing a presence is more important than simply showing your face everywhere. One more thing, don't make a norm that you are going to make huge money on any of the sites, neither Squidoo nor Hubpages, since I have earned not more than $0.7 despite having 6000 pageviews!

Squidoo and Hubpages are authority sites. Its always best to have a presence on these kind of sites.

    • Both sites work well in terms of SEO. As long as you write quality content, article marketing will bring you long term results. Squidoo and Hubpages receive tens of thousands of hits, so they can help you gain exposure and build relevant links.

Both are very effective and fruitful but policies is very tough and hard because if someone stole your content from you hubpages and lens then you need to revise your content.

Successful backlinking means getting as many unique Class C IPs to link to your website as possible. Use both.

I also suggest putting very well-written and high quality content on both, because you could also earn residual traffic from those sites. Putting up spun or poorly written garbage will negate any positive impact you could have gained there. Save the poorly written crap for the article directories...

What is your objective of using them? Gaining traffic for your money site(s)? Backlinks? Or try to rank your lens/hubs and make money out of it?

As for me, I use them to get traffic and quality backlinks. I made a lot more squidoo lenses than hubs, just because it's easier for a lens to go live. But, I've never done any test to check which one is more effective to boost my rank.

I prefer HubPages over Squidoo. My Amazon product review hubs rank very well and convert very well. I specifically like the ability to use hub templates by copying existing hubs. I know Squidoo offers similar functionality to Giant Squid but I don't use Squidoo enough so I haven't reached that level yet.

The one thing that really sets HubPages apart from Squidoo, for me at least, is the lack of distractions. I just think Squidoo has too much going on. Hubs are just cleaner and allow me to steer people to my affiliate links.

I've never been a huge fan of Hubpages strictly because I think the layouts are bland. I can get more creative and develop a lens on Squidoo that's a lot more engaging. Now, if you're just using either platform for backlinks, then the visual aesthetics is a non-issue. I build money pages on Squidoo, and I think the tagging options with Squidoo is a lot more fundamentality beneficial from an SEO perspective to get a ton of internal links and PR flowing your way.

I've been experimenting with Squidoo for backlinks simply because it's much easier to get dofollow links. IIRC hubpages require you to reach and maintain a certain level of engagement for the links in your hub to stay dofollow.

My squidoo lens is now live and complete and has the required 20 likes. Traffic is nothing.

I'm making good money from Squidoo. I have a few hubs but somehow never got it going. Just don't like it as much.

Of course if you're looking at the two platforms, however, as a means to backlink to your own sites, both are equally good.

Btw just wanted to point out that there is NO required min. of 20 likes. You can safely ignore that 100% completion for a lens, it's a totally useless metric.

the reason i choose hubpages is that it's convenient for me to get a free google adsense account when i post some hubs .

Not that much work really, links in a custom bio are all dofollow so I tend to put links in there to the content I'm trying to rank.

Nowadays, you can benefit from Hubpages more than Squidoo. I said this out of my experience. I have been a Squidoo person for a long time, the game has changed and now hubs give better weight on link than Squidoo.

Bottom Line: write quality content and these two high pr websites can help you

  • I prefer Squidoo. There are a couple of reasons for this:

    1. Squidoo has a higher Google page rank than Hubpages.

    2. Squidoo is run by a marketer who knows his stuff (Seth Godin).

    3. It is easier to get started and get results with Squidoo than with Hubpages. That's if you're new I mean. Based on a test, it takes a lot more time to get your hubs indexed in hubpages than to get your lenses indexed in Squidoo. I guess the reason being because each of your new hubs in Hubpages are attributed to a separate sub-domain from the main domain. As a result, you don't get the benefits that comes from strong internal linking throughout the site.

    4. Squidoo has a very large selection and variety of modules that you can take advantage of to earn money in different ways.

Well, there are some things that are very advantageous when it comes to using Hubpages. Such as their affiliate program that encourages other people to drive traffic to your hubs.

But overall I think that Squidoo seems to have a brighter long-term than hubpages...

I love Squidoo compare to Hub-pages. There are lots of lenses on almost every category/area which you need. It is kind of another search engine for me, to explore more things. Next major reason for my favor towards Squidoo lens is, It is possible to get rank quicker on Google for squidoo lens, compare to Hubpages, I would say, Squidoo is more SEO friendly even
