What are your Facebook ad conversions?

I've been doing a lot of Facebook ads lately and I'm wondering what a typical ad should be converting at.
So far the products I've read all state they are getting .5-1.5% CTR for their ads. My best after the past month has been at .048%... so about 1/10th the CTR of their worst.
I'm wondering if my ads are sucking or those numbers are a little out of reach in reality. I have been using these Facebook ads in very hot and low competition niches. So, I know it's not that factor...
I'm assuming my pictures aren't working effectively, but lots more tests to go. Just curious to see if I'm on the right track or if I have a long way to go.
