Why all these Google updates and blog network deindexing are actually a good thing

When I started with IM quiet some time ago I was a bit overwhelmed and often thought, whooo how am I gonna break into the top with so many (affiliate) sites available!

Say yourself, every good EMD is already taken and back then as a noob I though an EMD was really essential, true it makes things quiet a bit easier when you focus on 1 specific keyword but when you want to rank for many keywords it won't make any difference.

To me it looked like the market was pretty saturated and I guess a lot of new comers think the same.

But now after all the Google updates and blog network deindexing it looks to me like the whole internet is wide open again and that everyone has equal chances, the most sites with a great advantage are back where they were when they started, or even worse, they have to switch domains cause of the penalties and many others who aren't that long in the business have probably given up after spending hundreds of dollars on domains, links and content.

So although it's terrible for many people who lost their whole income or a huge part of it, it's great for all new comers and people who are truelly trying to setup a serious business.

Personally, I love Penguin for the reasons you mentioned.

I'm honestly seeing niches that were once crowded all the way back to Page 3, now completely wide open.

Despite all the noise on this forum, Google did pretty damn good job of cleaning up spam. I've yet to see a truly "innocent" site get hit.

The truth is, lazy SEO has been killed via Penguin.

We are talking about those SEO's that bought a few Fiverr gigs, all pointed to the same URL and the same three keywords. That just doesn't cut it post-Penguin.

SEO's need to make their link profiles more genuine, not overly optimize their sites. Make the site the best for the users intention, the end user and not for the search engines.

Finally, a penguin thread that actually makes sense.

What comes around, goes around. The people who
were up on top with "junk" replaced people who thought
they had it all. Now they get replaced.

Funny how people scream penguin when they get replaced,
but never thought about the sites they replaced, screaming
      some foul as well.

The current algorithm is not good. In some national versions of Google caused a huge amount of spam that actually appeared in search results. For example, in Poland, where Penquin took approximately 5% of web pages Google has just announced an action that will clean up the spam manually. Penguin just did not work as they thought.

The purpose of Penguin was not to improve search results. It was to remove spam.

Yes it has missed some spam in order to reduce the occurrences innocent sites getting hit. I'm sure when they refresh and tweak Penguin more sites will be taken out.

I agree. The update cleared out a chunk of low quality competition. To me, the barrier to entry has been raised so SEOs with no capital will have to put in some work to rank. Buying a few fiver gigs won't cut it. Whats even better, lazy SEOs will be caught chasing their tails for the forseeable future.

As ever the penguin has destroyed the crappy SEO'ers of the world :-)

Only those that actually have an idea about SEO and follow it closely are surviving and have protected not only their sites but their client sites...

The basics of SEO have always been the same and its not changed :-)

But as the OP said..... lots of new fresh niches ripped wide wide wide open :-)
