If I wanted to make a forum should I use my forum name as the keyword?

Ex.

My forum will be about how to train dogs

My domain name is then: howtotraindogs.com

or

Should I keep my domain name different.

Ex.

My forum will be about how to train dogs

My domain name is then: dogforums. com

My keyword is also not specific

Ex. Its not 'how to train dogs' but more of 'dogs' in general.

Could I make my website about the target of 'how to train dogs' so when people search 'how to train dogs', my website will come up? Of course I know I have to get it ranked on the first page + have low competition.

Thanks! I'm still a newbie BTW

I'm using Market Samurai right now to check whats the best way to have the lowest competition and the easiest attainable page rank.

I'm inclined to do the first option because of the keywords that people search however, I've noticed that some of the most successful forums on the internet have a different name than the keyword.

ex:

facebook . com

The name warriorforums HAS nothing (Really it doesn't literally) to do with IM.

Just wanting help; thanks!

And...I should use google adsense to make money right? Would I be able to abritrage using google?

Why would you want the headaches associated with running your own forum?
Not to be negative but unless you really know what you're doing and are prepared to spend a LOT of time, it will only drain your focus from more important areas of your business.

      I agree,

Running a forum isn't easy, wait util the spam kicks in, and it will sooner or later.

I'm a Mod. on the largest forum in my niche, the spam never stops.

I would never own a public forum, a private forum would be easier to run IMO.

I agree with Laurence, especially if you are getting so hung up on the name.

There is nothing wrong with making an SEO-ready forum name, but look at the Warrior Forum. Does that name scream "Internet marketing" to you? No. A name is a name, people will know what the forum is about when they find it via your marketing.

Barnes and Noble isn't called "That Big Bookstore" and Wal-Mart isn't known as "Huge Store of Everything." People will find out what it is about when they step into your forum.

As for AdSense, you can use that. Forums can be monetized with AdSense, pop-ups, banner ads, premium membership, giving people the ability to sell products (don't know how well that will work with your niche) and so on.

I've never liked the arbitrage method. It just never worked out for me. I am also unsure of its efficiency for your type of forum, but I personally wouldn't do it. At least, not until you have a sizable forum where that monetization method could produce some results.

I've my own forum, it's a Forumotion's free forum and I don't find it very difficult to run as there are a lot of features.

For the domain name, you should chose the one you prefer. And, in my opinion, the most short possible so that people can remember it easily.
