Google new update - removing links

I know that Google have changed their algo for bad links, so I've spent all of 2 days manually requesting that the spammy links acquired by an Indian SEO company are removed.

As well as this, there are some article submission links too.

Question is, shall I just leave the article sites? Granted they're probably not worth much but they can't penalize you on article distribution surely.

Anyone who knows this please let me know what's the best thing for me to do.

I suppose it depends on the quality of the articles and the sites that they are published. If they are crappy, short, badly spun etc on dodgey auto approve sites then try to remove them if quality, long, unique on better sites like ezines then just leave it.

Good luck on your quest as the sites that will allow spammy links from dodgey Indian SEO campanies are not teh sort of sites that are renowned for good communication.

Also get to building good diverse links that will eventually out wiegh the bad and even out your link profile. I appreciate this is much easier said than done.

You are unlikely to get any significant amount of bad links removed. I would just focus on building more quality links and hope that outweighs the damage of the bad links.

However, as Matt Cutts said, you might need to just start over on a new domain, depending on how badly you spammed your site.

The **** thing about this though is that I haven't spammed at all.

I've just been recruited as in house SEO, and the managers don't know anything about the industry - so they've obviously been fed **** from agencies in the past who are now probably doing it to other firms.

I'm left to pick up the pieces.
