Chances are if Google does not find the link naturally, then it's not a link worth getting. If you want to get a link indexed, just tweet it or submit it to digg.

Yes, I know Ping helps links to be indexed. But is it helpful to improving the page rank? Does social bookmarking help with SEO?

No, pinging has no effect on SERPS ( assuming you meant this) or PR. Social bookmarking can have a very minor effect as it shows the search engines you're active in social media, but the results are minimal.

I don't recommend you ping your links. If you do, do not use an automated tool. Stay far away from anything automated post penguin.

I completely agree. Instead of pinging, use:

          1) Social Bookmarking ... only a few a day to start off. I usually do 1 the first day, 2 the next day, etc.
          2) Web 2.0 properties ... build 1 Web 2.0 property (squidoo, hubpages) once every 3 or 4 days.
          3) Article Directories ... submit articles once every few days.

Start slow. Your site is brand new, and getting 100+ links in the first few days looks like unnatural.

According to me you should wait for a week so Google can find those links naturally, bookmarking on high pr is better option than pinging
