Is it good or bad that my site is getting hit with 20 comments a day from backlink comments? Should I allow these comments to help build my own backlinks also or decline them? The site is www.sellgoldjewelryanddiamonds.com

Thanks!

I wouldn't allow them. I am new to this and started just last year with one site.

I would manually review every comment and approve any that were even remotely close to my niche. I wasn't getting any true user comments though so I figured I may as well approve these ones, show Google someone is coming to my site.

Traffic slowly increased from like 5-10 visitors per day to 40-50. Then the Google update. Dropped back down to 3-5 per day and has remained there.

Since last year though I have made other sites in which I didn't approve closely related comments and only direct ones. Those sites were not hit.

Also I finally set up my askimet account and that stopped all spam. The cool thing is though you can go into your comments and check to make sure that the comment askimet marked as spam is actually spam. If not, approve it.

100% of comments in relation to the blogs
we discuss here on the WF are spam.

In case you think your comment is not
spam, read the first statement again.

Just had some poor sap who is running an SEO
company asking here on the WF where he can
      find more auto-approve comment blogs.

Holy cow people. Get a friggin' grip.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

        • Just disable the comment posting. They are running scrapebox and its bad to your post. or If you want you can read the comment and if its not relevant to your post then you can delete it.

When I was just starting out I would sort out every comment in the spam que and approve the ones that are linking to on topic sites, now as i get thousands of spam comments a day I don't even read them and hit the empty spam right away.

I believe if your comment has been caught by Akismet it means that you do have been spamming and has been rightly caught by it.

Its no good or bad when you get loads of such spammy comments. It only matters when you approve the comments and allow them to be displayed on your website. And i suggest you delete or leave them unapproved because none of them make sense to the content on which these are posted. Approving these comments will also increase your outgoing links (bad).
