Trouble with new site

Hey, guys my newest site now has 182 posts ,yet no traffic. The home page hasn't been crawled since may 6th, when I check the cache for my main url, the old template I had shows up. Now when I check certain posts my new template shows up. 127 out of 182 posts are index. Another problem I'm having is some posts show up in the serps with just my blog title and not my post title, while other times the post titles does show.

I've never experienced any of these problems before, the only thing I'm doing different is not build backlinks, but why are my posts being crawled and not my main url.

Why does certain post show up in serps with it's title while other show just the blog title.

It may be as simple as building a few links just to have Google crawl my site more often I don't know. Also there aren't any problems in my webmaster's tool either. No crawl errors.

Get a few quality links pointing at your page.

Focus on quality related links, not profile & other junk links. A few quality links will keep Google bots returning to your pages.

The bots will come, that's not the problem. Just make sure you are ready then they do crawl your site. You do have a good start with the amount of posts you have i would suggest just keep increasing it whilst adding a few High quality links to them

Thanx I was just trying to figure out what was going on, I guess it's all about links. I'll build a 1 link a day from good sources just until this problem goes away.

Set a target of 5 per day and you might get somewhere a little quicker

Social media sharing should be enough to get most pages indexed. Did you 'Tweet' these out? Having social network profiles could help with indexing.

No this site has 0 links, I've been telling everybody not to backlink, so I would have felt like a hypocrite if I had built links, but now I see some links are necessary for indexing purposes.

I assume this site has been submitted to GWT?

I think the indexing rate sounds normal. It's only been a few weeks since the whole site was built.

Yes, I also submitted a sitemap. I bought the domain name on April 27th, so the site is still new, plus it has no links, I'm guessing that accounts for the problems I'm seeing.

It's still weird though because I had another site that only had 4 articles get more traffic, and it also had 0 links.

Are you using Wordpress or an other software? Cause it is possible that some page templates of the wrong template has been set for certain posts, which causes the problems.

Nest I wouldn't worry about it mate. Links or no links it will still take over 30 days to see some activity in gwt. Keep pumping out that content, it will look alot better for you in a months time.

As for links 1 decent high pr baclink is all you need. I was thinking about using comment luv on some relevant blogs just to build up the deep link ratio and then in 60 days drop some heavy links. Google tends to pick up and rank fresh content alot better and higher when you've got a good deep link ratio, the last thing you want is to get into the habit of dropping loads of links on your index page.

Before you think about link building in general i would make sure to grab some real good quality ones first like dmoz, yahoo directory and really trusted sources then you can let your hair down abit.

Thanks for the advice, I defiantly wasn't going to go backlinking crazy lol, I just need a few for indexing purposes. My focus right now is on content and lots of it.

I definately recommend looking into deep link ratio, go and find the formula and take a look at a few whitehat sites and calculate their dlr. News sites generally have around 25% dlr. So you can work out a plan say build 10 internal links on relevant comment luv blogs and drop 2/3 links for your homepage. This will also give you a more natural and robust backlink profile, so links will count more when you do get them and harmful links won't hurt you as much.
