Picked this tip up from Traffic Planet. Go to google and type in your keyword -amazon.com

Many of us are seeing the results for the pre- Penguin update SERPS.

The guys over there are speculating that it shows evidence of the Penguin filter in place. It appears to work when putting any website in with the negative search for example, -bbc.co.uk for example
Check it out yourself. What does it all mean and can it help?

I see the same results for my keywords with or without -amazon.com... I can't see it being of any help to anyone who has been hit by penguin.

It's definitely showing me my pre-Penguin keyword placement across a number of my sites that were hit - I wonder if it's niche -related? I agree that it may not be of much use but it is a bizarre oddity.
