Another Example of the "New Google"

In yet another example of algorithm insanity, Google delivers this sweetheart smak on the middle of PAGE 1 for the search query "diet book reviews"
Diet Book Reviews

Sure, there is an exact match domain, but not much else. How's that for a "great user experience"? I'm trying to find places to get my latest diet and fitness book reviewed, but that probably won't be one of them.

Gotta love those penguins pooping all over everything again.

Yeah, that is shame. Have you considered video reviews? They will be much easier to rank.

Yeah, that is shame. Have you considered video reviews? They will be much easier to rank. I've ranked videos for low quality keywords in as little as 4 hours.

I don't really want to do video reviews myself, although I can certainly do so. I want established, well regarded book review sites and established authority sites in my niche that already do book reviews to review it. These are high traffic sites that carry a lot of weight. I am not trying to get backlinks, but publcity and traffic to my book's Amazon page from the reviews.

I just want to know what factors caused this site to get ranked. I'm feeling like I'm doing something wrong and putting in a ton of work while these guys move ahead.

The text is all hidden--supposedly a big no-no for google. It has very few backlinks.

The only thing going for it is the EMD (150 exact search).

If anyone can explain why it ranks, it should help the rest of us.

Also, no h1/h2 tags. Just font size"2" etc. Virtually no SEO.

This actually gives me hope for the little or no backlinks theory. I know it only has 150 exact searches, but that should tell you that a quality, authority site should easily be able to rank for these longtail keywords/phrases.
