    Hi Monty,

Google Penguin is the name of the latest google update.

There are many good threads plus many blog posts written about Panda and Penguin. Penguin is about having good quality backlinks. Google it and see what you can come up with.

It is good to do your own research on this, read various opinions about it and then go read what google has written, that way, you will know your way inside out, up and down, and around the "Penguin"

Google is becoming increasingly good at spotting poor quality content, so it’s worth investing some time into thinking about how you can make yours great.

Backlinks are still very important, but Google is increasingly evaluating the quality of your links. Make sure you get a wide variety links from quality (not spammy) sites. Creating content is a great way of attracting links but you should consider other media, too.

Google penguin is latest google algo update and it was against poor backlinks and black hat practices such as keyword stuffing, poor quality spun backlinks, link schemes, cloaking and other black hat methods.

Just in a couple of sentence:

Penguin is the name of the last update of Google's algo.

    The purpose of Penguin

The purpose of this change was to devaluate those link which were build only to manipulate search results and it did not care about quality.

Many quality sites were dropped from page 1 to page 3 or 5 or even further. For many terms blank pages appeared in the top ten results instead of high quality content.

    The main change

One of the main problem of those sites which were dropped that they were over-optimized. (I know it more complex but I just want to point out the main problem.)

The details: if you are interested in the details there is a great video done by SEOmoz. You will find it on their Google+ page.

    How to fix it

You may want to diverse the anhor text of your links. For this you need to create more link pointing to your site with different anchor texts. In this way you may see results faster.

Regarding to on-page seo you must reduce it in order to be like a non optimized page. Now it can be essential in order rank pages high after Penguin. Your page shouldn’t be perfect at all. You have to use carefully h1, h2, tags, keyword density, ect.

    I hope it helps!

All these Big G wild animals like Panda and now Penguin. What Next?

These updates have affected so many webmasters and many ruined. My friend was making $500 per month from his Authority site but now he makes $50 per month. The poor chap spent months on page seo and spend a fortune on backlinks but now the goal posts have been moved.

Big G also looks at user experience, for example, how long a user stays on your site. The longer the better. In order to survive, you have to look at the Panda and Penguin specialist in here and pay attention to them.
