Google may well have finally confused itself...with so many algorythm changes, panda penguin and who knows what else. Just look at these findings....Original post that alerted me can be found here...OMG! Look At These Search Results! | PotPieGirl.com
and I have reproduced the page below...... What is going on????????:confused::confused::confused:

I never use Chrome, but figured I'd go check on some search results in a nice "clean" environment.
Wowzers at what I saw!
So I searched for a very popular affiliate keyword space - how to get your ex back.
Let me just show you what got returned as the "Top 10 Results" (I had to go check other browsers to make sure Chrome wasn't playing tricks on me!)

So let's review, shall we?

#1 is a site I'd expect to find...so Ok, fine
#2 is a wikihow article thingy (ugh). Which, by the way if anyone is interested, they have a button that allows you to put their ENTIRE article on YOUR site (yippee)
#3 Yahoo answers (sigh, but ok)
#4 A sales page... fine
Now it gets interesting.....
#5 When you mouse over the Google Instant Preview for this ranking url, you see a snapshot of a VERY keyword-stuffed page. BUT, when you actually click THRU to SEE...well you get something totally different (perhaps the actual site that the url reflects? Total weirdness)
#6 No Way! "this site may be compromised"??? Ranking on Page 1?????
#7 Yet again, the Google Instant Preview of that page shows yet another keyword-stuffed page, but when you click thru - a page that is an affiliate url
Now it gets REALLY fun....
#8 A Restaurant. (yes, laughed my a$$ off at that, but hey, perhaps this restaurant IS key to getting your ex back?)
#9 an Affiliate page/site...ok, fine. Totally expect to find that.
and drum roll please for the last result on Page 1.......
#10 - a Music and Comedy site... don't even really know WHAT it is....

Ladies and gentlemen, the Google Search Results have hit an all-time LOW.
THIS is BETTER? Google is pleased with all this?
(I bet their searchers sure aren't! For me, it made me laugh hysterically!)
Or, is this a sign that yet again, another storm is about to blow thru?

google is messing up really hard. they try so much to make their incomes higher with ads that they don't mind screwing the search results. As long as the ads that show up in the search are relevant everything is ok for them. Most people will click on the ads.

I hope the changes Bing announced make it a real antagonist for google so we can see something get better at some point. Cause if you play alone you play your way.

I'm really thinking about just making the plunge already and going with PPC. I mean, it seems like the only way to get consistent results with the way things are going.

Who knows what's next? And do we have enough time (which = money) to bang our heads against a wall and figure it out every time this happens?

    Those results are mongulated lol...

Adwords PPC is almost as finicky as regular google search. You have to maintain a "quality score" - which is really undefinable right now. And the algorithm they use to define said "quality score" changes just as much as their regular search algorithm.

I agree, I am by no means a PPC expert, but the time I spent running campaigns and just trying to get ads accepted in the first place showed me its very thin ground to make a profit.

I am sure there are some doing very well, but my research shows its nothing like it used to be. The bid prices are now so high there is a very small amount of room to get an ROI or Profit.

It's just the natural result on constant playing with Algorithms.

It'll change when they have a better algorithm tweak ready.

Don't go crazy trying to rationalise it or base your marketing efforts around what you're seeing - it's temporary.

Just a part of google's war on affiliates. No better way to drive people out of affiliate marketing than to keep throwing chaos into the results. Many will get frustrated and give up.

I have also noticed some crazy results in Google lately. I assume it takes time with the changes for things to settle.

It must be strange to be a site owner with very little traffic to suddenly notice a surge of non targeted flowing.

I also notice many FB and even twitter pages ranking well lately. For some reason also my keyword tagged photos have to been getting plenty of hits through Google images which I am not sure is a good thing with the bounce rates.

We will just have to watch and work out what is best for our own sites in these ever changing times.

This forum needs a separate sub-forum for these silly SERP threads.

I am sure Google is in a panic that a bunch of immature people that can't move on with their life will now be unable to find a good ebook on how to get their ex back. I can hear the sirens going off all over Google campus.

They do. It's called "delete." But alas, the mods have better things
to do. Something these people who start these crazy, silly
serp threads don't have. Anything better to do with their time,
that is. Pity. I never have enough hours in the day to
      work making money.

There are other popular search terms which have got worse search results than the example shown here.
Probably it is temporary to teach webmasters a lesson about not to spam the web. Google is the entrance to web.

Acting like google is perfect; it ain't.

Been less than 15 years since it came out; not perfect yet. Give it a few more years or more and it will go to your liking.

With a search term like this I would want to see some "Love & Relationship" forums in the top3 like askmen.com.

Those results aren't helpful for those trying to get their ex back.

An ex is usually an ex for a reason.

The results will be wacky for a while. Google's making big changes and trying to adjust with the times.

They're not doing a good job thus far, but it will get better.

I've spent the last 59 months building 412 MFA sites. Each site averages 8 cents per day...I said average, some make up to 17 cents per day, PASSIVE INCOME! This income allows me to live comfortably and buy ANY flavor Jolly Rancher or Skittles I desire. Don't give in to fear, it CAN be done!
