Websites now Ranking for Local Results

I have been working on many websites from last couple of years. But suddenly main keywords started ranking in Local results instead of organic results on 1st page. I have noticed similar thing with my competitor websites also. So i there some update form Google about local results or this is some penalty imposed by Google. Most my keywords are location based, but earlier these keywords were appearing in local results as well in organic results.
