After Google penguin, it is cleared that if we get a link from the site which has duplicate content then it is directly effect on the reputation of the site and may lower SERP immediately.

I have heard many cases after 24th April 2012 Google penguin update. Google is trying to remove/vanish duplicate contents from its index and entire web.

Google likes to supply informative information to their users and not like to serve same results in many pages.

After Google panda, spam content was trashed from the market and now duplicate content will slap to the linked site.

A big disadvantage
Now, competitors have chance to slap their competitors by doing Gray Hat SEO.

Huh!

I think, there should be some changes in the policy.

Till now, we have to go according to penguin.

I sure would like to see written confirmation of this because a lot of major websites live on duplicate content (Drudge, Huffington etc...).

I assumed that writing an original article and submitting to Ezine...then later submitting identical article to 5-10 other s is OK. Not OK any more?

      Hi

I have read many Google penguin updates and PDF files of Google penguin and I have got information that Google penguin does not allow duplicate content any more.

      Please understand Google penguin rule
      1. Duplicate content will consider as spam page.
      2. Backlinks from spam pages will be considered as spam.

Means, finally links from duplicate pages will be spam.

Post the PDFs... I think the other guy made a good comment. All Methods of content syndication would cease to exist over night if duplicate content was truly the target.

Proof? A source maybe? Just sounds like pure speculation to me.

News sites are nothing but duplicate content, but I would gladly take a link from the New York Times or Washington Post.
