How do I get a particular image still to show in an Embeded Youtube?

I had a video made up at fiverr specifically to help lower my bounce rate when people click through to my main page.

I'd like to know if there's a way to insert a custom "caution tape" type of video still into the thing so that when the embedded video shows on my page it shows the yellow/black caution thing in order to get them to click the play button.

Can I do this? If so...how?

Are you talking about having a specific thumbnail there before the video plays.

I haven't posted any new videos in a while on Youtube & Youtube is constantly changing things, anyways, here is how I get whatever thumbnail image to show that I want.

It's kind of a hack but it works.

Youtube allows you to pick a thumbnail image from the video screenshot at 3 seperate points in the video (beginning/middle/end). What I do is add the image I want displayed as a thumbnail image for the video, to the very end of the video. Then select that (end of video) option when I post a video on Youtube.

You'll have to do some math & also stretch the timeline at the end of the video. Basically your thumbnail image will look like a regular still image while the video is playing, at the end of the video.

So If your video is 1min. long, divide that 1min. by 3, so the real part of the video will be approx. 40 seconds long & the end of the video (thumbnail image) will be 20 seconds long.

That will get you a rough estimate on the amount of time you need to stretch the video timeline at the end of the video. I usually add a little more time at the end of the video so I don't have to keep testing to know I get the time exact. So instead of the estimate of time at the end of the video being 20 seconds, I might go with 30 seconds.

Might sound complicated now, but it's very simple to do.

I just used this same method on sunday, I had planned on using crazy looking thumbnails to get more views. My plan was to make money with adsense on youtube, use your video response method in addition to using a eye catching thumbnail.

      Example:

This video has over 4 million views.

Video like these get millions of views just because they have thumbnails that stand out. You don't even need to have a actual video, I was just going to use slide shows of ,animals, funny pranks, weird things etc.

Some of you should try this, you may make a couple bucks

Guys...does this trick work for the preview image when the videos are actually embedded in a webpage at 640x480 though?

Are the thumbnail images and the images shown on your own webpage before the video is played the same?

Yes, it's the same thumbnail image for the video, the video size doesn't matter.

The only thing that matters is the video timeline & the position that the image starts being displayed in the video.
