I launched a site 4-5 weeks ago. It has picked up pretty well in terms of traffic and is getting around 4k views per day on an average.

Now my real problem is that the CTR is very very low. Something around 0.05. I think there is something wrong with my ad placement.

So, can anyone help me in this regard, the domain is:
failpictures - Fail Pictures

You want the ads right in the middle of content, preferably high up
on the content, wrapped around. Use a large rectangle.

Since that's not likely on your page, your best bet
is to do what you are doing. Using a large banner at the
      top.

Your CTR will probably be poor due to the nature of the site
      and its layout.

I would add a large skyscraper to the right side instead
      of the square.

Watch what kind of pics you post. They must be family
friendly for people like you and me to be within adsense
      TOS.

You are allowing FB comments and many are laced with
unfamily-friendly profanity for one. Not to mention the
      many not for family stuff.

I certainly would do text and image.

Thanks for your input brah. Even I was thinking about a skyscraper. Also some text ads which blend with the theme.

Prateek: I don't have a high enough post to send private messages yet, but I sent you a message to your contact email that is on your website. Give it a check when you got the chance. Thanks

Try a 336x280 or 468x60 right above the "Most Popular Pictures" title aligned center.

You want to put the ads where you know eyeballs will go.

I agree with the other comments above on the size of your Adsense ads. I think the Facebook popup ad is not needed. It's trying to force people to like your site, but they can't even see the site with the popup in the way.

I suspect an awful lot of people hit the back button due to that Facebook pop up, your problem is that you are asking people to "like" your site before they've even had chance to see it. Ask yourself if you would do that if visiting another new site.
A single 468 x 60 above and below each of the individual pics would probably work wonders for the CTR, but be careful of the content as some of the pics I came across will get you banned from Adsense.
