It depends on the competition in your niche and what else you do to SEO your site, but it can be a big help. Longer tail keywords in the url will probably make it easier, but here again it depends on your competition.

I have a small niche and keywords in my domain name. It did not take me long to be on page 1 of Google results (3 months?). Depending on the search phrase keyed in I might be in the top three of those of us who did not pay Google to get there.

But I have since added articles, news releases, and done other SEO to get up and stay up that high.

I strongly recommend keywords or long tail keywords in the domain name.

    Yes and yes.

keywords in the domain give a small boost. And targeting long tail keywords ensures you're going for low comp.

The KEY insight here is that keywords in the domain give a small boost... as in... there is no 1 thing that will get you to #1. It's a combination of things:

      - Keywords in domain/URL
      - Keyword in page title
      - Keyword in meta description
      - Keyword in-text
      - Keyword in image URL
      - keyword in alt image description
      - Keyword in link text broad match/exact match

And on and on it goes. Don't believe anyone who gives you 1 technique and claims it's the be all end all of SEO. It's always doing multiple things right for an extended period of time.

1600 exact local search is not great ,remember this is only a rough guide by google, so you need to take that in to consideration.

Lets take your exact 1600 searches month, then if your site ranked number 1 in google for your keyword then you would get around a rate of traffic about 50% . This would mean you get about a 1% conversion rate give or take.

And say your commission rate for a sale is around $30 for every sale, then that 1600 visitors month= 16 customers, so 16x30 =$480 in sales a month. Not good !!

So find a keyword with at least 8,000 exact searches, believe me it makes a difference. Aim higher.

Good point. By having legovideogamedotcom you allow yourself the ability to branch into other Lego games, as well as have a keyword domain in iteself. The lego keyword followed by the name of the game could also be included with each individual game section - legovideogamedotcom/lordoftherings.html
