Since last 3 years one website which is ranking no1 in google, i can't beat them to get on no1 position. Their backlinks was below 100, DA - 1996, Alexa Ranking is worst... but still i am in no6 position. I am doing a tight SEO to beat them all but still no luck. please give strong advice. My website is shopping site so definitely i want to be in no.1 position.

My site

1. Google - No.6
2. Backlinks - 120+ (Recently Started SEO, after long gap)
3. Alexa - 53000
4. DA - 2008

I guess you need to do competitor analysis first to get the idea about their backlinks and other factors. Post some unique content on your website on regular basis to serve content freshness to users and search engines.

Do competitor analysis and check out what work they are doing on their website by following their back links. Make quality back links for your website from niche(shopping) website.

You can take help of opensiteexplorer.org sort of good tools to check what kind of backlinks they do have to better analyze their offsite SEO pattern.

Don't try to beat your competitors directly on your main keyword. Look at all the long tail keywords surrounding that main keyword and compete on those instead. The total amount of traffic going to those longtail variations will vastly outnumber the traffic for that single keyword.

    Don't compete head-on, outflank them.

Yep, try to steal their backlinks first but if you can't, try to get more high pr links (preferably relevant to your niche) and build a second tier to them and you should be able to outrank them.

To make a better plan, you may take a look at not only the quantity and type of links it has, but the "PR" & "relevancy" of their backlinks, and adjust your linkbuilding accordingly.

It shouldn't really be that difficult but if your site still doesn't move after doing all that, there may be something to do with your on-page, which is easiest to change.
