Blog Comments: Allowed or Moderated. How to tell quickly?

I need to know how to tell quickly if a blog moderates their comments or allows them. Of course seeing 0 comments vs. 4 comments tells you something but you never know for sure until you go through the process of typing in your comment and anchor text and url which is time consuming. Are there any tools to tell quickly if a blog allows or moderates their comments?

There's really no way of knowing just by looking at it. Some people that develop large lists will have a few servers running constantly crawling or scraping the web. Then they send out bots to test the comment sections with unique pen names and urls. Then they crawl the pages to see if the anchor is present and then sort the final list and remove the sites returning an error. You can do this on a smaller scale with scrapebox.

That's too hard to tell. It'd be best to comment on blogs which had recent comments in the past few hours.

Moderated & allowed are really the same thing. Are you referring to automatically approving vs moderating?

You can usually tell if a blog is auto approve by the sheer # of comments. Other than that, you can tell if a blow owner is actively moderating & approving comments by 1st making sure that they've got at least a couple posts from within the past month or two. (Showing that it's not an abandoned blog.) Then just take a look at some of the most recent posts and see if they've got comments. (Showing that the blog owner is approving comments.)
