WWW or no-does it matter?

This is a pretty simple, fast question. If you have a site that is http://yourdomain.com but recieved a link to http://www.yourdomain.com will your http://yourdomain.com get credit for it, assuming its the same webpage? I have a site that is without www but still recieves links as if it is. Please note its the samepage-www or not. Sorry if this was confusing!
