Forums for backlinks

Hello Warriors,

Penguin put some of my sites in the sandbox.

The ones it left alone had backlinks to forums in the same niche.

Is getting backlinks from forums in your same subject still helping with PR?

      Agreed completely. Forums that haven't been attacked by spam are still very useful for getting your website up there and diversifying your portfolio. Some can even say (like you) that it's useful as a social signal.

    As long as the forums are relevant they will be beneficial. Dont spam those otherwise the links will get removed.

      The key is to build backlinks from different sources and ideally from quality sites in your niche. Forum backlinks can still help your rankings, but they are considered low quality backlionks and they surely won't boost the rankings of your keywords.

      Yes, build a few backlinks - that surely won't hurt, but don't expect any magic from it.

    They get indexed but if there helpful Google only knows. Nobody really knows except Google which links are really helpful. I have a friend who's site is number 1 for a very competitive keyword all on no follow back links so go figure? He did it on purpose to prove a point.

    Forum profiles & posts aren't the greatest sources of backlinks. That said, forums are VERY good sources of traffic. Too many people overlook this. Try and spend a little bit of time each day participating in a small handful of high traffic forums in your niche. You'll drive very targeted traffic via your signature & build relationships with others in your niche.

      A backlink is a backlink. Take your backlink and put it where people will be able to see it. This includes forums. Forum backlinks get indexed very quickly and you should aim to get your website linked from as many reputable websites as possible.

    I'm not sure about SEO, but traffic-wise, forum posts are one of the best sources. Your posts show that you know something about the niche, and people would trust you more. Also, since the forum is full of people who are interested in your niche, you can be assured of some high-quality targeted traffic.

    Forum is not only a source of backlinks but also a source of targeted traffic. After penguin profile links are not so effective as it was as backlink.
