Go Article = No Follow?

Help me out here. I thought the "top" articles directories such as EZine, Go Articles, Article Base, etc.. were all Do Follow.

I just posted to a new article to Go Articles and the contextual link within the body of the article is No Follow.

That said, the link in my Author Bio is "Do Follow".

Is there some trick to getting the contextual link to be Do Follow?

If not, which article directories are truly Do Follow?

If they have told you that the content links are "no follow" then no one can change that attribute to "do follow".People don't submit to High PR article directories to get some links, they do submit the content to get the visitors to their website.Write a good article and you can get some traffic!

I can't agree with you fully, syedakram1989. Article directories are mostly used to fully help you in SEO. The article directories have a very high authority and will help you. Of course they can help you drive visitors to your websites, but it would be better if you use them for SEO and social media websites for traffic!

Why consider the link if nofollow or not? One of the main purposes of those top article directories is to provide good information to users. Not for the sake of backlinks only.

Because backlinks from article directories whether they are the top ones or not have already lost its big value when it comes to search engine rankings.

Posting good, informative contents to article directories will help you to get natural backlinks from other websites if you ever catch your reader's attention. That's where the power of viral sharing takes place.

So If I were you, I wouldn't focus too much if the link is nofollow or not. Just write contents for real people.

Articles directories are basically used to spread the awareness about your site and not just for creating backlinks. An informative article can bring huge traffic to your site and this is the main purpose of article marketing. If they not allow dofollow then create anchor links for the purpose of attracting (alluring) readers and not for search engines.

Spread awareness. Haha. You're somewhat right. Though, the idea is to make syndicators and publishers "aware" of your content so they can post it on their sites and hence send you traffic.

The backlinks on their own are somewhat useless.

That's right. And they shouldn't. But the PR of the directories is completely irrelevant. Only the homepage of the directory has a high PR. The page where your article gets posted on has a PR 0.

Hence, as you've suggested, content should be written for people. Not the search engines.

Sorry, but this is wrong. Article directories are pretty rubbish for SEO. The quality of the backlinks are bad because your article gets posted on a page that's PR 0. Only the directory's homepage has a decent PR.

Furthermore, directories don't much of an authority at all. Think about it. Content in hundreds (if not, thousands) of different niches get posted every day. So in which particular field will the directory be an authority in?

You can't be viewed upon as an "expert source" in every niche. That doesn't even make sense.

Directories do not exist for SEO simply because of the fact that they have very little SEO value in the first place.

Directories exist for to get your content syndicated to the relevant sources in your niche. These people (ezine owners, bloggers, etc.,) present your content to their audience, hence driving targeted traffic to your site.

Mixture of dofollow and nofollow looks more natural to Google, rather than focusing on just dofollow links.

Thanks for the feedback, however no one answered my question

Go Articles is constantly listed as a "Do Follow" article directory, yet the contextual links within my articles are "No Follow". Am I doing something wrong, or is Go Articles not a "Do Follow" directory as is claimed?
