Hi all.

I read threads with folks earning a few thousands a month. However all are usually having multiple niche sites

Honesty I want to enjoy my writing too and hence I hope to concentrate on one site only. Is it viable ?

I know a many people who earn their living just off one blog. The best example is Amit Aggarwal of labnol.org. If you are passionate about what you are doing, and do smart work, it is more than viable.

There are lots of sites earning thousands of dollars, for example:

    Ezinearticles.com
    eHow.com
    About.com

There are a lot of people that earn there living off of just one site. You just have to remember that it takes a lot of hard work to create an authority. So pick your niche wisely and just stick with it. Don't forget to collect your users email addresses, this is just smart marketing and also allows you to sell to them once there away from your site or if god forbid you loose rankings.

Some people prefer having one authority site over having many websites. Personally, I prefer having many income streams vs. just have one and have it potentially fall out of rankings/viewership and then me loose all my money.

Of course you can. There are many people making their fortune with just 1 website, the point isn't the number of sites you've, it's the niche, traffic and conversion rate. And focus to one website will be much easier for website managing, content building and link building, I prefer working with one website.

Avoid building one massive website only, at any time you can expect a penalty of some sort, so go for more than one website.

Also test out adsense, clickbank, amazon and what-ever other affiliate marketing company, to see what works for you and convert really wells.

    best of luck.......

I am having only one site at the moment and it is earning me decent money. I have to diversify though. As other WF said you can expect penalty or loss of income at any moment so you need to have backup plan.

One site is enough to earn. But most of us have too many sites in different niche. If one is not going well then another one will cover it.

There are thousands of people, who have just one "main website" and it makes them a living.

Think ProBlogger, JohnChow, CarlOcab, just to name a few.

However, nowadays with all this Google Panda and Penguin BS, it's good to diversify, not just to different websites, but to different activities, far from SEO.

I prefer to diversify. But it gradually, it can not be everything in one night. Therefore, from one site, and then developed into several sites that have different form and source.

Don't put everything in one basket, always concentrate on atleast three to four sites from different niche to make a stable income. Because adsense earning is not permanent.

One site is fine, and a single authority since is much easier to diversify than 5 adsense sites.

Just play by the book and don't do any shady link building, you'll be fine.

Actually depending on one site is quite hard
But if you are so solid about not using the black hat methods then i think you can go for it.
But I will suggest you to start another site when ever you got 50% success in the existing site.

Yeah, it never hurts to start another site, depending on only one is a big risk nowadays.

I started a website with acting monologues in high school for fun. After about a year (since I was doing it for fun, I wasn't concerned about making money) I noticed that I had several hundred members on my site. These people began to recommend my site, and I received more and more members. I posted ads on the site relevant to teens and I began make a very steady flow of income.

As others have stated there are plenty of people earning a living off of only one site. I plan to get rid of some of my smaller sites and focus on only one or two main sites. I would rather have control and focus set on one site versus spreading it all out over 50 sites.

Sigh I bought an offer from a bro here. Seems like it is negative for my keyword. Dropped from 30s to 50s to 80s. So much for his link pyramid
