Hey all! I've been looking at a particular keyword that is localized.

The exact local search is almost 5,000 per month with $10 CPC.

The top ranking site is a PR0 with no backlinks, EMD .net

The second ranking site is a PR1 inner page with no backlinks.

3rd is a very popular company pr 5 with 40 backlinks

4th PR4 - 0 backlinks


Site 1,2, & 7 are the only sites that are actively going for the keyword, keyword in title, url (besides site 7), & description.

I wanted to get an EMD but it isn't possible but I could purchase - best(keyword).com or something similar.

What do you all think?

    I have ranked keywords before so it shouldn't be too difficult. I actualy just found seoquake lied to me the 2nd domain does have bout 80 backlinks. Some are the anchortext.

    I think I could still destroy it.

    Should I go for EMD with .biz or .ws?

    Is that the big thing with penguin is having a brand name and ignoring emd?

      Having a brand as apposed to an EMD will just give you a wider range of target audience. EMD's are not what they used to be, however they still do a job but with future updates from Google we don't know how they will rank soon enough so i would go for a brand that sells itself

    Well for this case my only interest for the site is one keyword, not a brand. Otherwise, I'd fully agree.
