Why am I being ranked so well? (not an Ad)

About 10 days ago I noticed that Google began ranking other pages, posts, catagories etc. for my site much much higher than they should be. In fact they shouldn't be ranked at all. This isn't the blessing you think it is because it is changing the order in which I have to conduct my business (this is very bad).

Is Google currently broken or something?

I'm looking for someone who can explain why this is happening and what I can do to correct it. All I do know is that it seems to have something to do with tags because in most cases it is the tag that is being ranked well not the page or post itself. And along with this is that I am getting listings for multiple tags in a row. What I mean is that if one tag gets a listing so do others right below it (not even relevant pages). I have found serps where I take up the whole page with maybe one or two relevant links and the rest totally unrelated.

Is anyone else having this happen to them?

I myself don't know anything about SEO so I'm lost. Are there companies or people that will examine your site for you in exchange for getting to keep the info they may learn about why you're ranking the way you are?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi,

Having the URL as well as the keywords you're ranking for would help (you're not just "ranking", you're ranking for a given keyword, which may or may not be a good one).
Also, don't forget, if you have a Google account (Gmail...) that the big G serves you customized results. If you want to see real search results as other see them, either disconnect from your Google account, or use another browser altogether.

    Seb.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

I'm sorry you're right I should have included more information. I didn't make a full list but here is a sample from what I remember (below)

When I am doing a check I make sure I am logged out of any google account and I turn on Privacy Browsing in Firefox. I think that is the correct way to do it if not please let me know.

Main KW How to Day Trade
One that I shouldn;t even be ranking for How to Day Trade Stocks
one that has multiple unrelatred listings Women Day Traders

There are many more but I would have to go back and check exactly what they were and I will be happy to do that if it will help..I think I just remembered another How to Day Trade Futures, but not sure bout that one if that's correct or a synonym.

my URL is howtodaytrade dotbiz no w's beofre it just http

So how does this work do I give someone access to my sites backdoor so they can examine it?

      Thanks

Honestly it would be hard to give you a precise answer because only Google knows exactly how they rank sites. The rest is all specualtion

I understand..However I thought that the fact that it has something to do with tags might be enough information to point someone in the right direction and if they looked at what I was doing on my site (really nothing that I'm aware of). I tagged a few things that's all, but maybe it's the way I did it or I did something in an unusual way (since I really don't know what I'm doing and don't really even understand what a tag is..just did it because I see other ppl do it)

I should have mentioned on my original post that the posts, pages, articles etc that I am referring to are not all new. Many of them are months old and you were never able to find them with a google search before and I didn't just recently add tags to them they were there before as well. So something must have changed in the way they get ranked is my thinking.

You are in position 10 for one of your keywords and 8 for the other keyword. I don't see multiple listings on a page.

Google don't always find your content immediately, it often takes time. You have been indexed now, that is all that has happened.

Okay now I'm beginning to feel really stupid. I went to a friends comp and I also switched to Chrome on my comp and the multiple listings are not there. I thought by doing a search in Pricacy Mode and no gmail account open I was avoiding any kind of cache or bias.

There still remains the question of why is it that tags are getting ranked and not the original post. Now what's more confusing is if you google "women day traders" I'm # 3 using FF and its the tag not the article but if you google in Chrome its ranked # 1 and its the article not the tag.

I believe that the posts/pages were indexed long ago because I could find them by typing in the exact phrase and also by doing a site colon search (correct me if Im wrong here about what indexing is)

And one of the problems with it being the tag is that it takes you to a blog page (that I didn't create I think WP does this by itself) and if there were more than one article written it takes you to the most recent one...which is not related to what the person would've been looking for when they clicked the serp....they can however scroll down the page and find it but who is going to do that.

Why don't you think you should be ranking for that keyword?

Those keywords are all over your Index page: Google Cache for your site

How do I reply to a specific person here? I am clicking where it says quick reply on the post the person made so that I can respond to them directly but it just seems that my posts are going to the bottom of the page with no referance of whom I am responding to.

@Yukon The reason that I feel I shouldn't rank for those KW's is that from my understanding they are highly competitive, and eventually I was going to work on getting them ranked once I had finished getting my main KW ranked well (How to Day Trade). For HtDT (abbrv) which is not as competitive I have put a lot of work into climbing up the ladder but for these others such as How to Day Trade Stocks I have done nothing. I wrote 1 article that's it and the only reason I did that was because in order to have a picture in the slide show it needs to be attached to a post or a category. After months of trying to get to page one for HtDT I am getting to page 1 or close with KW's that I did eventually plan to target but haven't yet and they are doing better without any effort or work on my part.

@awj888 Thanks for the tips but I don't know how to do any of those things. I guess I'll have to learn. As for why is it a problem is that I would have to change the business model I created in order to service the respondents to the serps. For example: What I do and offer to someone that responds to "how to day trade stocks" is completely different that what I would have setup for someone responding to "How to Day Trade Currencies" or "How to Day Trade Futures"...and I don't have all of that in place yet. I didn't think or want everything to happen at once I was planning on building and servicing one sector ata time.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone for the response I have received. I was expecting to make a post and then check it in a few days to see if anyone had responded. I didn't think I would get immediate results. So thanks again.

i just checked google for uk and usa and dont see any issues, you dont have a top rank and you have some pages listed but not all - I don understand why its a problem if you rank? you want the traffic don't you? If you dont want certain pages ranking then you should have but a noindex reference in your robots for those pages, or 301 redirect them to the page people should go to.
