Fact is, anyone can do SEO, the only thing that matters is the experience. Without any concrete skills it will be difficult to achieve any significant ranking, this is where hiring and outsourcing becomes a second choice.

From my experience as well as recent investigation into Google Penguin, here the 3 things i have learnt and what matters when it comes to SEO.

> 100% Quality Content Not those Scraped crap content
> Quality links (High Pr non spammy)
> Keyword Diversification and also avoid over optimization

If you can achieve this you will RULE in Ranking.

To Your Success,
John

And don't overoptimize the anchor text in your backlinks--use mostly raw anchors (www.mysite.com, mysite.com, http://mysite.com, etc.) and lots of generic anchors--click here, more info, my site, website, etc.

If you think about it, most of the "old" techniques still work fine. Just in moderation. (Quality over quantity.) If you really want to play it safe, the days of blasting away with the help of tools are behind us. Automated tools still have their place, but you've got to be smart when using them.

You really do know your onion brother.
A few days back I responded to an SEO question with a link to my ex mentor's blog who still emphasized that diverse link portfolio is the way to go.

Most of those things that don't work still work in a reengineered way otherwise I expect people to be asking what really works at this time when article directory, blog networks, forums, profile, web directories, link wheel, blog comment, profiles, social bookmarking, press release e.t.c is confirmed dead.

A lot of people both experienced, beginners using black and/or white hat SEO lost a significant amount of traffic/ranking after the updates, they're simply not accepting openly.

      Pls don't get me wrong.

keep quality high! work with low cost agencies and have them manually submit links. and vary the anchors, - hey in the long run you are essentially building a strategy to rank for MORE keywords - so wheres the harm? ... exactly!
