Buying an EMD- what is a good monthly search volume?

I am trying to buy a few EMDs in hopes of building a few small sites that I can monetize with adsense and/or CPA offers. But, I am not sure what to look for to ensure I pick up EMDs that are going to be winners.

I realize every niche/keyword is different, but is there any threshold that you consider?

Thank you in advance.

I usually make sure there are more than 3000 searches a month (100 clicks a day to your site max if 100% clicked #1) U.S.

I don't worry to much about CPC if your using affiliate products for $$$ but try to make sure the CPC from the contextual tool is around $1.00+ so you get at least 50 cents a click.

3000 exact is good, you can also get by with 1500 but dont go less otherwise it just aint worth it.

    UNLESS:
its something like diamonds which get you huge comissions (amazon) with only a couple sales - in which case a trickle of traffic would be enough to make something from it

Personally, I believe it also depends on the EMD.

For example, if you find that kitchenappliancesforsmallspaces.com is available but has only 1000 searches, but that several specific kitchen appliances that fit inside that niche have low competition but another 1000 searches each (or even less if there's enough options available), you could easily rank faster, AND get more traffic than you would have with an EMD that had 3,000 searches to begin with.

    Ok, I'll bite ...

Buy brandable domains that you can target multiple keywords. Feed the Pandas and Penguins ... they like authority sites with lots of good content and that are updated every so often.

You can buy EMDs, but make sure there are other relevant keywords that you can target on the same site.

      Thats not true....

It appears that giggle is slapping emd domains because the sites are crap.... marketers that tend t target EMD's tend to have lots of other sites and dont have the time to give the site the love it needs...

Thats why lots of people are crying because they got hit and they say ooooh must be because its an EMD.... nah its because it offers nothing to the user

Exact Match Domains are a positive SEO factor, however if the content quality is not there you're not going to rank well anyway. So, while it's a factor no one should ever feel that if they own an Exact Match they deserve to be in the top ten for that term. Perhaps ten years ago this was true but that's a long time ago, and those days are never coming back.

In fact since the last update EMD are more powerful because Google isn't so sensitive with the anchor text in backlinks if they match the site's name

3000+ exact match is a nice amount, however if you are targeting buyer keywords, e.g. Buy Product or Product Reviews, you can get away with much less exact match searches.

I have a EMD that is a 8000 count and all work has been done after the most recent update...it was not hard to get it to number 12 or so (still working on it) so EMD can be still good..(the site has good content..professional graphics etc isn't a slop together)...

you do whatever works for you.... I have strict set of rules I follow and that is only because I have been at this for nearly 12 years now.

I am stuck in my ways and no matter if its 3000 or 300 the reality of it is if it converts... I rather have a site that gets 300 visitors and makes £1000 than a site that gets 3000 and only makes me £10....

But still none the less test and test as a lot of niches are different and people have different buying habits

To be honest I don't think that you should set any rules, as long as the CPC (for adsense sites) and affiliate payment for your CPA offers is good enough, why limit yourself? And to be honest ranking a 3000 searches emd is harder, assuming you even find one.

I'm not saying you shouldn't jump on the chance if you do find one, but I think you can make perfectly profitable sites at much lower volume. I'm experimenting with a 390 searches now and although it might seem low there is virtually no competition which means it ranked on page 1 almost instantly.

I always think profitability and ROI, and whilst a 3000 searches site would definitely do greater than my 390 searches no reason why you shouldn't build the say 720 searches site anyway. Unless you are absolutely swamped by easy-to-rank 3000 keywords with emd available in which case I salute you, because I sure am not.

I have always found it easier to get fast, easier ranking with the very low competition EMD's, of course this is true for most everyone. If content creation and CPC are easy and solid, it does not make much sense to limit yourself.

      Love,
