Finally Page 1 but no sales

Hi,

My website has finally reached page 1 for a keyword that has 18k exact searches per month. It was #7 and now #2. I've been getting around 150 UV each day.

The website is in the niche of mobile application development. I've monetized it with one of clickbank's affiliate app development program. I've checked the reporting, and I've gotten more than 300 hops to the affiliate page, however only 2 order impressions and 0 sales. The affiliate has a really high gravity and one of the biggest conversion rate, which leads me to believe that it is completely false. Should I abandon affiliate marketing and install AdSense instead?? The CPC for my keyword is around 3-4$. If I get to #1, I could be receiving 600 UV per day, and with a CTR of 10% and a CPC of 3$, I could receive more than 100$ per day with only this website.

Also, what would you recommend for me to hit #1 spot. The competition is weak, and I need good high PR relevant backlinks.

Maybe do both? I mean adsense will appeal to a wide variety of your visitors, whilst the affiliate product might only interest a fraction of them seriously.

Best is to simply trial and error.

10% seems pretty optimistic if you've sold 0 so far.

Adsense sucks for anything tech related. Adsense is best geared toward old people who are dumb enough to click the ads.

Gravity doesn't = a good product. You could have 1000 noobs all selling one product each.

Does your landing page look like a landing page. You are going after a pretty internet and tech savvy group which means the usual landing page isn't going to work so well. Write a quality review. You probably aren't going to sell anything if the product sucks, which if its on CJ is just might.

It is always advisable to make a landing page first, spend $50 on PPC and see if the product converts before spending the time/effort into ranking a whole site. But don't give up you find another product that does work or a related keyword you aren't too far off on.

First of all forget 10% AdSense CTR that is very unlikely.

Secondly, are you sure the landing page is really converting that well?

    Strong landing page you have:

    Shocking Big Headline
Your story readers can relate to
    Benefits in bullet point format
Lots of real life customer testimonials
    Strong un-miss-able Call To Action

To further analyze the product go to cb-analytics.com and search by the product name or vendor name. You will get a LOT more data than Clickbank provides.

Alternatively, you could create a squeeze page and short email series to build a list first and then promote to that list afterwards.

It's actually not the standard landing page. It is my homepage, and it is a 1000-word article. I've inserted some affiliate banners, and some affiliate text links in the article.

    The product is: http://appdevsecrets.com/

You guys changed my mind about AdSense, I think I just might create an email autoresponder serie -- The product' affiliate section already has one pre-built. I'll put the opt-in form in the sidebar and another one at the top of the home article. This way, I'll also push the affiliate product through email marketing. What do you guys think?

Wow I wanted to contribute but after reading what most of the people here said I cannot really add any more, they nailed it!

Let me put it into my own words. I think you should have adsense as well as clickbank offers on the page, it's all about the placement of your ads, now that you have traffic you're in a perfect position to see what works best. I have both on my site and I don't see why you don't?

Here is also a suggestion, you obviously are dealing with internet savvy people, they have seen millions of sites with adsense and don't bother to click them, most of them know how to get app development information for free. This is the kind of crowd you have to give freebies to, I would give away a free ebook or free app UI graphics when they enter their email, that way you can gather a list.
