Can removing my site low quality links improve my ranking?

Hi,

This week I have purchased a link-building package, and I totally regret it. I thought that the links that I will receive will come from relevant sites with at least good quality content. Instead, I received very low-quality back links from spinned content that cannot be understood in any means. I am sure that Google is smart enough to detect these. In addition, I have noticed that my links have immediately dropped (somewhere between 5 and 20 ranks) from different keywords. Will removing the spinnned articles and the back links will get my rankings back or at least have less negative effect on me?

Thanks!

This is the first action you should make after the Penguin update.

Yes, I would removed the spinned articles immediately since Google will be penalising for this sort of link building tactic. Then I would concentrate on building some high quality backlinks to counteract the low value links- write some good quality guest posts/ articles for blogs or ezine.com, start a blog and focus your efforts on social media. These should help after the Penguin update.

    I hope this helps

I agree with JamieLewis on increasing the high quality backlinks to counter act the bad ones. However, it is still advisable to make an effort removing the low quality links as well as stopped submitting spun articles from various directories yet it is okay to submit quality articles on high ranking and high authority article directories. When purchasing backlinks, go for the ones that offer freebies. This will give you an opportunity to not only evaluate the quality of the backlinks but also assess the quality of services such as the provider's capacity to remove dead links.

Yes it will help but frankly I doubt you are able to do that. Its pretty hard to remove backlinks from third party sites.

Here is long term linkbuilding strategy: Your backlinks per day should not exceed nubmer of unique visitors per day. (Logically who would create those links if no one has visited your site). Avoid Links from spun content pointing directly to your site, instead create links to links using spun content.

Links pointing directly to your site should be mostly social media links Facebook, Twitter...), web 2.0 properties (Squidoo, HuPages...), original unique articles from article directories, guest posts.

If your site only dropped 5-20 places for certain terms it has nothing to do with the links you built. You are not penalized. If they are crap links like you suggested they probably had very little effect on your site and it is other factors that caused the change.

DON'T REMOVE LINKS it is a last resort and won't get you those spots back you lost.

You aren't penalized, removing links can only negatively effect your site.

Instead, build some quality links to dilute the crap from that package.

I did that with one of my favorite sites that went from #2 to infinity. The few links I could control, I did remove. I also started slowly adding bookmarks that were NOT my keyword anchor text (too high percentage got me booted out of the listings).

Now, I moved "up" from beyond #1,000 to about #150. It's a start. I may never get my rankings back for this site, but at least it's not deindexed. I can always use it for links to a new, untarnished site.

Don't use spiner content, Google panda 3.7 was smarter than last version. And try onlywire.com to drive traffic to help your content indexed, also forum posting

It can but how are you supposed to tell if that specific link is helping you rank or hurting you.

You may just end up removing supporting links which will only hurt your rankings.

I guess the best practice is not having those links in the first place if you're worried about them.

More links to your site it doesn't mean that your site will have high PR. Relevant quality contents along with high PR with few links will get lots of traffic.

the best way for you is to remove any low quality articles on your site. Go to google webmaster and tell them of those links and do your best to manually remove all those links before your site gets banned.

It is advisable to work on both.

Remove low quality links and in the mean time try to get some quality natural links.

This will really helps to improve your rankings.

    Hope I was right.

    Warm regards,

I don't think to remove them first. Make few quality links first.
