Am I in danger of being banned from Adsense?

Hello folks,

one of my micro niche sites is performing ok now (good ranking), but I am afraid it might be against Adsense TOS in some way. Take a look at Ad placement and please do tell me if my account is in danger of being banned - as I have no idea if google actually ban people for having ads above the fold:

It's a standard CTR theme and my CTR for last 30 days has been around 8.5%.

Thanks in advance,
Slix

There's a difference between having Ads above the fold & having zero content above the fold, they are not the same things.

Your screenshot has zero content above the fold, your pushing your luck IMO.

All of my own sites usually have 1-2 Ads that bring in the majority of the CTRs, check your own data & determine the best performing Ads, remove the rest of the Ads (per page).

If your not tracking individual Ad CTR, you should be.

Great stuff as always Yukon. You make a good point about tracking individual CTR and it turns out the best performing one is not problematic at all - it's the 160x600 one on the right.

    Thanks !!!

That's the way my sites have always performed, I always have 1-2 Adsense Ads per page that bring in the most money, so I try & narrow down the Ads to the best 1-2 Adsense Ads, then get rid of all the low performing Ads.

Make sure to keep notes of what the current layout & Ads are, how much they currently earn, then save that info. off-line as a backup plan just in case any new changes don't work out. Even a full page screenshot image would help, so it's easy to revert back to the exact same setup your currently running.

You need more content above the fold. Replace the images with content and you should be good to go.

Can anyone please tell me if using the CTR theme is bad and could get your AdSense account banned? I heard stories of people getting banned from AdSense just for using this theme but who knows if that was really because of the theme?

Also, can anyone please tell me how to track performances of my ad units on my sites, so that I know which layout works best? Is this set up within the CTR theme settings or in my AdSense account?

Yukon, if you could please take a look at my questions, I would really appreciate your help.

    Thank you,

    Monthy

      Hi,
I am the owner of CTRTheme. There are many people using CTRTheme successfully. I have checked the Adsense TOS policy and the theme is compliant to the policy.

There are hardly any cases of adsense accounts being banned because of the theme. If you find any violations of the policy by CTRTheme, please let me know so that we can fix it.

The CTR theme creates the colors to blend the ad links with navigation links. And Google doesn't like this, so they point in their policy,- "publishers participating in the AdSense program may not format ads so that they become indistinguishable from other content on that page."
And looks like it is impossible to disable this blending function in CTR theme to have different adds and page links color?
Any one know how to do it?

You can go use the checkbox "Override subtheme's default color scheme " that can be accessed via Theme Options --> General Site Options.
Any questions, please let me know.

You're taking a risk with this theme. I prefer the Woo Themes - most allow 1 or 2 ads showing above the fold, plus there's plenty of space for some text to show.

On your site at the moment people will click the ads because there's not much else there. This will lead to more invalid or poor quality clicks, and these are what will get you b&.

It's impossible to know because we can't see any text. But if you have quality content, you will probably be fine.

The amount of ads seems too high. Keep place for your content and reduce the ad space per page and give that place for content. Your visitors will loss interest getting too much ads instead of their required contents. Found no specific guide line that tells whether Google like this or not, but it may make problems for your traffic and will not be viable for long run.

I have a great results putting wide skyscraper on left than right.

2ndly google is not banning the putting the ads above the fold. Infact one Large Rectengle Text ad unit with wrapped content is good placement.

As a consumer, if I was presented with this page I would be away like a greyhound. The only impression I get from it is that you are trying to beat me over the head until I click on one of your adverts.

Sorry to be so blunt, but that's what I feel when I see a page like this.

If you don't want to get stressed with whether Google will ban you or not, you should focus on creating websites that visitors would like to visit. Not some ad-filled pages that make you want to quit as soon as you land. Create for the visitors and you will not worry about getting banned by anyone.

Just to be sure and self, i suggest you to add some content. Becouse a lot of people don't use adsense on the main page properly for this reason, and are using them on all other pages with articles and where are more information.
