I have found problem niche that I have the problem for myself, which is why its tempting to try to rank for it.
9 of top 10 pages have under 100 BLK, 6 have 0 BLK and 1 has 1.
4 have <= 1 PR.
The problem is most of top10 sites are old. Some are from 90's. Youngest is 2009. and 2x 2008.
Is this a good keyword to rank for?

    Sounds like a keyword you should pursue. Domain age is of course relevant, but things like onpage SEO and backlinks matter more. I've outranked plenty of older sites in the past.

    I also think there's some kind of diminishing returns on domain age, like a new site is treated differently but once your site is past 6 months I think its pretty much fair game.

    I was wondering this also as my site is a fairly newer site but I did not now 6 months was considered old enough to compete. Thanks for the answer.

    Domain age matters but in SEO nothing is impossible. I've ranked few sites with low competitive less than one month. But for the high competitive keywords it took six months to get a permanent rank.

    If your domain getting older to older than that's good for you because give will never ignore it and give worth to it and will never penalize it.
