Thinking about building backlink system, but not sure if people would understand the value.Thoughts?

These websites are in need of GREAT content. Not spun content. Not thinly disguised content with the sole purpose of getting a couple links. These websites need REAL content, and they're willing to allow their "authors" to post a link to their website within the article IF the article/content is GREAT.
The article/content wouldn't be auto-posted to these websites. It would be manually reviewed to make sure it's well written. It would also be copyscape checked to verify it's not copied from elsewhere.
The system wouldn't build MASSIVE amounts of links. It would create GOOD links from real websites. It would simply be another way of diversifying your link building.
My question is, if I developed something like this, do you think people in the IM world would realize and see the benefit OR do you think it would appear like too much work for someone to do in order to get 1 link?
This wouldn't be a system that I would/could hype up because, let's face it, the general population likes to hear that something will get them 100 billion links in 10 seconds... and not something that will get them 1 or 2 links for each REALLY GOOD article they write.
Would the system help with rankings? I haven't tested it, but based on everything I know, I would say absolutely, given these are all real websites owned by real people.
