Syndicated vs Rewriting (Spinning) Content

Hello all,

I am learning backlinking, but I am a little confused. I think the main strategy of getting backlinks requires you to submit unique (or spun) articles to blog sites and article directories, correct?

My question is, can someone explain to me what syndication is, and how it helps your SEO/backlinking strategy, and when to use it? Do you syndicate your main blog content to directories such as ezine? Or do you only submit unique content?

Does that make sense?

Thanks for the help!!!

Daniel

syndication is copying content from one site to another site. Syndication or Unique, you will need to build links to the syndicated content to get traffics.

      Hi risingrank,

That is not an accurate description of syndication.

In the context used by the OP he is referencing web syndication. Which is making content available for other webmasters to publish.

      @Daniel,

When you make your content available for other webmasters to publish, that is called syndicating your content. You may benefit by including links to your website, typically in the "about the author" section of your content. Most sources of syndicated content include, in their terms of use, a clause that requires the entire article to be republished with author links intact, thereby earning a backlink from the publisher.

Actually, I was talking about publishing idential content to article directories, etc.

I am just trying to get a grasp on all this backlinking stuff. Here are some more questions...

        1. Does my backlink point to my homepage, or an individual blog post? Which is better for SEO?

        2. Should I put all the articles I have published on my main site on ezine articles for "syndication purposes" as well as unique content? What's the different as far as getting a good backlink is concerned?

        3. All the Web 2.0/Blogs with high PR, do I just need to post once to get the benefit of the backlink? Can I promote more than one link and get extra benefit?

Yes, I understand but does syndicating content have benefits? Or should you only submit spun stuff to article directories?

Is a press release considered syndication? Is it worth doing?

Alexa has the low down on this. I only syndicate and have seen solid results....spinning will one day be useless, so why not stick to what will work long term?

This is not true. As Google gets better at detecting spintax, spinners will get better at writing automatic, good looking, unique spintax.

The day will come when spintax looks just as good as unique content, so I'd say spinning is a pretty long term solution!

Then keep on keepin on. I just believe spinning articles adds garbage to the internet. Toxic waste if you will, that Google will always be trying to clean up. Why bother?

What do you mean when you say "Alexa has the low down on this"? So, you only put your existing articles in article directories? Do you do Adsense, Affiliate stuff, what?

Alexa Smith. I can't find her posts on the subject, but she keeps links to all the info you ever need to know about this topic. I was hoping she would have found this thread by now and shared with you that info too.

I just buy cheap articles and post in article directories - not sure I would call it syndicating since they are mostly garbage article directories, probably more like "posting for backlinks". I also get more expensive articles for blog posts on the website or guest writing for other websites.

If you own the websites you are doing SEO for, then by all means...spin away. I'd be remiss to do the same to a client website though. Better to be absolutely safe than absolutely sorry. Who is usually complaining about Google's updates? I noticed its usually the spinners/forum posters/blog commenters/xumer blasters/etc etc. You don't hear the article marketers and high quality content publishers complaining about Google's updates...

If you want a fast answer. Both work. It just depends on your ideological viewpoint concerning adding garbage to the Internet or at least marginally useful content to the Internet.

Using human re-written content which passes copy-escape may not do any harm to your link building process. It really adds value and seen as different content by search engines.
