Can you offer an explanation for this?

At the beginning of this month I started to get a huge increase in traffic to one of my sites. Adsense increased as well. I traced the traffic to a link from another site. Now, after my highest day ever, my traffic has dropped to about 1/4 of what it was and adsense is only a few dollars. This sudden drop came a day after my highest day ever in both traffic and adsense. I figured the link had been taken off but it is still there and working. Is this likely due to a decrease in traffic to the site the link is on or is there maybe something else I'm missing? But, even with the traffic I'm still getting, there are no adsense clicks. My ads are the same as before.
Thanks.

Are you using any kind of analytics program? Your answer is there. It will be easy to identify where the spike in traffic came from. Could have been a better ranking for 1-2 keywords, could have been a link on a popular page, could have been someone big tweeting about you, etc. Impossible to know if you are not tracking your traffic.

I'm getting my stats from my admin panel on WP. It does show that nearly all the traffic is coming from one link to my site from a site with a similar topic. I am just wondering why it stopped so suddenly, from my highest day ever to virtually nothing. Link is still active. I'm assuming that the traffic changed somehow on the site where the link is at. Just wanted to make sure it was nothing on my end that I could do something about. And even though my traffic is now about 1/4 of what it was, I find it strange there are no adsense clicks.

It's normal. Quite normal. And a little frustrating.

You will have ups, downs, and anomalies.

Nobody here will be able to give you a 100% answer.

The internet is dynamic, so are adsense clicks.

Example, day before yesterday, traffic was off
50%. Yet, revenue up 75% from previous day.

        Just go with the flow.

On slow days or after slow days, just work harder.

I never stop working on adsense sites' traffic. Except
        when on vacation, that is.

I joined this forum to get the answer to that very
question. Why does my traffic and adsense fluctuate?
I got a zillion answers that made no sense. The most
common one was, "Change your keywords." Now how
does that work? From that day I decided to just work.
        Work. Work.

I'll just reiterate that you will have spikes, bombs, middles,
ups, downs, and explosions. As you go along and increase
your daily revenue, it won't bother you as much.

Fight the urge to do stupid things. IMHO, revenue and traffic
fluctuations are the prime cause of doing stupid things.

          Thanks,
I am concerned that something is going on though. I had two clicks to this site this morning. It listed earnings as $6.72. A few minutes later, the clicks were still listed but the cpc was 0 and the earnings 0. Each click was previously earning 2-3 dollars ea. until yestersay I know this traffic is coming in from the one link. I do not have good serps on this site at all. I do have quality, personally written content but that's all. Is adsense devaluing the traffic I'm getting? The site I'm getting the link from seems to have good content also.

Yup. Invalid clicks. Happens to the best of us. It may be shock to some,
but the other day I had over $10 total taken away. Never, never am I worried.
Invalid clicks happen due to a number of reasons and are NOT click fraud.
I have all ads set to image/text. I think images get more invalid
clicks. It's the nature of all that space being a link. Plus, I think
that some image ads leading to a form require a signup for full
credit. Not 100% sure on that one. Many people just don't
know how to use a mouse click, or their laptop pad properly.

You need to start funneling your own traffic from targeted sources. Too
many to list here, but read the forum. Might take some time.

Adsense devalues traffic on your site, period. Or they value it. Has
little to do with niche most of the time. Improve your traffic,
you improve the quality of clickers, which improves the quality of
your ads, which raises the level of CPC.

Patience, hard work, and do the right stuff within TOS. Don't
            start going crazy.

I would buy a link on that traffic sites Home page for a single month & test the Home page traffic.

Sounds like the traffic site might have posted newer content & bumped your link/page down or off the Home page.

      Yukon,
That makes sense to me since I am still getting some traffic from the link but drastically reduced. I still am confused why no clicks at all are happening from the remaining traffic, considering how many I was getting.
