Yes they are. Depending on competition and search volume I usually create 10 Tier 1 Blogs with 10 high quality articles. 20% Main keyoword, 30% LSI, 30% url and 20% things like "read more", "source" etc.

So you are new and you're offering SEO tips on your site..? /facepalm

About the OP's question , web 2.0 still works pretty good but you need to put some effort in it. I use them mainly as buffer mini sites.

I think this is a great post-Penguin link building strategy.
The use of LSI keywords is brilliant when dealing with over optimization penalties. I am using Latent Semantic Indexing to get a lot of great anchor text ideas. After that, I carefully select a relevant number of them to use in the link building process.

Yes I would say so only IF the content is unique. Google doesn't want the same recycled garbage.

I would say that any "user driven" platform is effective (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc) as long as the content is relevant and useful.

The Internet is a giant food-chain. Google's at the top and feeds on the layers below it. Content is food.

Do you mean unique as in not content from your site or do you mean unique as in the content shouldn't be submitted to any other web 2.0 sites?

I would definitely keep the content to your money site unique. With regards to Web 2.0s you can post the same content. This is called Content Syndication.

I don't really use too much Web 2.0 because I don't need to. My backlinking consists of Social Bookmarks and YouTube. I also like to use Social Signals on my money sites because if the content is really good then my sites go viral very quickly.

If you target products and keywords with low competition that's all you need.

PS - Some question whether YouTube is actually a backlink. I don't really care if it isn't as A) it's free traffic! and B) it's Google owned so helps to get your sites indexed quickly.

Yes and web2.0 websites are THE BEST way to achieve a good SERP if done properly. I don't think this would change in the next few years (at least 2,3 years!)

Yeah I agree. Content Syndication is a great source of information. Until the next big thing comes along (like the "next" Facebook) I can't see things changing.

Yes, the web 2.0 sites are still working. But at the same time, it is also better to diversify the anchor text. Try as many methods as possible!

Google webmaster define there three guidelines.
    1) Design and content guidelines
    2) Technical guidelines
    3) Quality guidelines
If you violate there content guidelines it's not good, because web 2.0 are focused on your website content. So, make sure your content are unique. In your content you can use keyword 2 to 3 times, if you use keyword more than 3 times it's called keyword stuffing. So, avoid it.

Content Syndication to WEB 2.0s I think won't stick for long, some web 2.0s properties doesn't allow duplicate content. Also try to target low competition related keywords for your web 2.0s and rank them.

No, Personally I'd keep each article unique or manually spun. I wouldn't use any of the articles from my money site

Web 2.0 is useful as long as its useful to the end user, it needs to be well written. I had a post that was well written on my site and it went viral on stumbleupon with over 10,000 views in 1 day. It was phenomenal. It does work but as long as its creative and useful.
