Everybody who have website is carzy about its website's search engine optimization, he need its site to be top for targeted keywords. But I want to know- Is search engine optimization really needed?

Do you want to get traffic? Yeah, its very necessary. Even if you are running ads on google's adwords network, they are still going to be looking at the quality of your page.

Not necessarily but having your site's main keyword listed at the top of the SERPS will get you a lot more looks than not.

The other way is endless promotion or some sort of viral marketing. I have sites with both (one of my sites that really isn't optimized is a review site that I promote via social networks) but my main money comes from being listed high in the SERPS.

  I used to have mixed feelings about search engine optimization. People said there were no 'guarantees' with SEO and I naively bought into that. Then I started to realize that the truth is that there are no guarantees with article marketing and pay per click too, as they are all subject to the whims of Google's algorithms.
  
  So do I recommend doing SEO now? In my opinion, it's a must now. You've got to get your content on to your own site and use that as link bait to get high search engine rankings. If I targeted any PPC keyword in the world and could generate a profitable campaign from it, I would definitely want to look into ways to get amongst the top organic search engine rankings for that keyword. That would improve the ROI drastically, as your costs suddenly become zero.
  
  The result: insane profits really.
  
  The biggest barrier with SEO is really time. And patience. You've got to spend time generating links patiently at a decent pace to your web pages to avoid triggering the spiders' suspicions. I've had campaigns where I built links all in the first week alone, but that strategy will only work for less competitive keywords. And nowadays, you also need to spend a lot of time optimizing your web pages with regards to LSI. You can't be too methodical with SEO.

Is that a rhetorical question, or did you post just to promote the site on your sig file? I mean, if SEO isn't necessary, then your sig file is just a waste of people's time and money.

  If you want traffic from search engines it's necessary to do SEO .. and make sure the right info is displayed in SERPs.
  
  If you have a big list of IMs, you don't need SEO, just basic stuff.

It can and can't be.
Depending if you want a quick fix or a long term solution.
I always recommend getting your site optimized.
But if you in it for just a little while than just use adwords, its a sometimes expensive quick fix.
Please try getting your site SEOed though, you won't be dissapointed.

Search engine optimization is truly important. There is an on-page optimization, but what's more important is the off-page optimization. Of course, you can try PPC but if you want to save lots of dollars, optimize your website, even the inner webpages that will vote to your domain.

But are you sure that you are marketing SEO services? You only have "#" keyword that is active on organic listings (which can be seen on SEO Softwares) ... :-(

Also, on-page optimization may not put you on top, but it can give you higher rank as well.

  Sure SEO isn't needed, provided you've already got a huge website that dominates your chosen niche--at which point article marketing and backlinks will be moot. Even then, you'll still need to optimize for keywords and content, as well as quality.

If you are a small page then yes you need SEO. Large pages that generate lots of organic links dont need to but everyone has to start somewhere!

If you build a site people love the traffic is going to grow naturally. I mostly don't have to think about SEO anymore, and I think SEO is somewhat overblown in its importance. If you don't have a worthwhile site, SEO is not going to help you all that much.
