Guide for low CPC campaign on AdSense?

Hi all,

When I first started my online graphic design business (about a year ago), I ran my own AdSense campaign and paid full price CPC... never improving my Quality Score (had a QS of around 3-5 for all my keywords).

I paid roughly $5 a click for MONTHS and generated small profits, and wasn't until only recently was I informed that people CAN bring down CPCs to 20% of that with a high enough QS. As you can probably imagine, I was blown away by the thought of that.

So I want to redo everything, start a new campaign and DO IT RIGHT this time. Does anyone have a good guide to start to create a successful PPC campaign thatll show how to start off and improve QS and bring my CPC to that magical 20% of what I used to pay?!

      Hi Alfred,

It seems that you have confused the name of the program you are participating in. AdSense is Google's program for publishers, not advertisers. You seem to be referring to AdWords, which is Google's program for advertisers.

The Quality scores for your keywords in your AdWords campaigns are based primarily on CTR (approx. 65%) so that is where you want to focus most of your attention. The the path toward great quality scores is to write compelling ad text, use very tightly focused ad groups where every keyword is extremely relevant to the ad text and your landing page. That is all it takes.

Having said that, some folks spend years trying to learn how to write compelling ads and never get really get good at it, while others seem to be born with a knack for it. Anyone can learn to write compelling ad text if they just focus on the principles that make great ad text and develop a formulaic approach through scientific testing methods. If you do not have the patience or the time to learn, then hire a professional to write your ads for you.
