Are competing pages define the number of searches recieved by keywords?

For example, when I look at the keyword "online casino" in Google Adwords It shows that this keyword is receiving 165,000 exact global monthly searches and there are over 14 million competing pages in Google SERP.

After seeing that information, I tried to add some words to make it "best online casino in the USA" and it shows that this key phrase is not receiving any searches. However, when I looked at the Google SERP, I saw that this key phrase has over 3 million competing pages.

My question is this:

Is there a possibility that those keywords/phrases that are not receiving searches according to keyword tools are still having searches based on the competing pages?

P.S. If you don't understand my question thoroughly just tell me and I'll do my best to fix it.

Thanks,

There are there are millions of pages that can be found by a single search phrase .. but that doesn't mean that people are actually searching for that search phrase.

If you type - pink fluffy pillows

.. into google then you will find any page in google's index of sites that has them three words (it may have pink at the top of the page, fluffy, in the middle, pillow at the bottom ) .. if you type "pink fluffy pillows" .. then you'll find any pages where these 3 words occur together.

Considering the volume of webpages that exist in Google's index, you are going to find a lot of pages for almost any search term.

Personally I'd ignore the number of web pages found for a key term, just concentrate on the competitors on the top few pages, those are who you need to beat.

No, there is no direct dependance. It can reflect the popularity, some think it can even reflect the competition, but I don't really think so.
