Does Penguin hate Wordpress & Prefer Joomla ?

Are there any wordpress owners whose site has been hit badly after the era of penguin? I notice that some WP based sites have been hit pretty badly & other joomla based sites still survive.

What about you guys? Do you have WP based sites? Does your site still rank pretty well on Google after penguin was born?

Website which are overly optimized are effected by penguin. It doesn't depend on the platform of the website.
SO I would say , website which are in any CMS with many many backlinks can be effeccted.

If you've been hit by penguin you might wanna try ahrefs.com and get a quick look at your anchor text ratios.

If your naked URL or brand aren't the top 2 then be worried.

If you want to fix this you could try diluting your anchor text or emailing webmasters asking for links to be taken down or edited.

Panda targeted more on page over optimization.

Penguin is more over optimization of anchor text (mostly off page).

Sound advice, and to concur with most other posters on this topic, the platform is not the issue, it's what you do with it that counts!

Avoid blackhat plugins such as ones designed to blast out thousands of spammy links; don't over-optimize your onsite content and go through your link profile with a fine-tooth comb.

A lot of sites have been hit by Panda and Penguin because their anchor text distribution was unnatural, be they HTML, WP, Drupal, Joomla...

In short, the platform is unlikely to be the issue.

Not really , there was a plenty of 'dangerous' wordpress plugins out here, this could be a reason.

I have 20+ wordpress sites and they are all on the top , so the answer is no. But as I told you above many wordpress sites dropped down because of blackhat plugins.

I have over 50 wordpress sites almost all of which are fine. If Google penalized wordpress than say goodbye to half the web.

Well Wordpress is the most popular platform it only stands to reason that most of the domains affected would be Wordpress users, plus spammers love to use it because you can throw a crappy 2 page website up in minutes! blast the hell out of it with scrapebox and move onto the next one.

There's really no reason for the googlebot to not like Wordpress sites - remember that it's all HTML output - granted that Wordpress users can do things that google doesn't like such as causing plugin bloat, or installing nasty blackhat plugins like cloakers.

I doubt penguin favors a certain type of website.

It's just a layout after all like John said

The plugins can get you in trouble with over optimization and the likes... But that's up to you to realize what's a bad move and what isn't

A question on your question - why specifically Joomla, and not Drupal or Mambo?

Almost everyone and their customers have wordpress based sites...it's much easier to setup... But in the end, like John said, it's all HTML output, and what makes the difference would be what the site tells Google to do... DoFollow/NoFollow, Canonical URLs, duplicate content, etc. etc. I don't think Google could care what platform you use to run your website on... its all in what you present in the output...

Penguin is all about link building pattern... it is not on which platform you are using for your website.

So, my answer is no, i have 20+ wordpress websites. I have got good benefits of penguin. Now adsense is getting increased. For me, penguin is good.
