Someone told me that traffic exchange helps in improves the alexa ranking of website. So I want to know Is it true. Can we really improve our website alexa ranking through traffic exchange programs

    It is true. Especially auto surfs. They can ramp up your
    alexa like an animal. Some of the highest alexa sites
    are traffic exchanges.

    Exactly. Alexa ranking is one of the most useless stats
    anyone ever came up. Well, not for amazon.

    See amazon has done just about everything right. They
    are a perfect case study for anyone wanting to build an
    empire. The own tons of sites that are no more than
    traffic funnelers and link enterprises for their own stuff.
    From boxofficemojo, to IMDB. Everything and anything
    on a site they build is for linking up across the board.

    Many SEO myths could be killed by just studying amazon.

    If you did not know that alexa was owned and operated
    by amazon, and do now, does that change your opinion
    of just what an alexa rank means? It should.

    See amazon has built a zillion sites, all interlinked to
    their own stuff, offering good content and apps all
    for the goal of creating an online empire. You should
    do the same. And I bet you just thought amazon was
    an online bookstore. Amazon could be called google-lite
    the way they have taken over a section of the web.

      Too true. I have no idea why people focus on Alexa. It does not affect anything, and is merely an estimate of where a site ranks in terms of traffic.

        I dont think even that is true. Before penguin struck my site , I had average 10,000 visitors per month and ALEX rank was approx 1.2 million. Now post penguin traffic has dropped to approx 5,000 and ALEXA rank has gotten better to approx 650,000. Does not make any sense.

    Just to add .. the alexa ranking for most sites isn't very accurate.

    Usually the higher your rank the more accurate it can be .. but it still relies on people surfing your website using the alexa toolbar as far as I'm aware.

      No, it's as accurate as it can be. What you might mean, is that the top 100 or
      so websites in the world are commonly known.

      alexa rank is like estimating the number of fish in a lake. They don't
      count every fish.

      Alexa rank is just some voodoo stat. Means nothing. Has nothing
      to with authority, PR, google ranking, or monetary value. SO,
      what else is left? Entertainment purposes.

    So could it be true or beneficial at least to use use Traffic exchanges as I myself do.
